Is this the bottom??
Market reacting as you suggested. When it finds bottom I think this will be a strong value prop.
Combination of Talos Energy and Stone Energy (SGY) - Slideshow $SGY http://www.seekingalpha.com/article/4127189
Market should see what happens after the deal is digested. I think it increases upside considerably. I will use cost basis average in case it dips further.
Interesting.....
I closed my position on 11/08 @ 33.14
Waiting for a good re-entry. Any suggestions?
Highlights of the combined company will include pro forma estimated 2017 average daily production of ~47K boe; pro forma proved reserves of 136M boe (69% oil) as of June 30, with 74% located in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico; and a favorable long-term growth profile underscored by the Zama oil discovery in the shallow waters of Mexico.
At closing, Talos stakeholders will own 63% of the combined company and SGY shareholders will own the remaining 37%.
The combined company will be named Talos Energy and is expected to trade on the NYSE under the new ticker symbol TALO.
Stone Energy (NYSE:SGY) and privately held Talos Energy agree to merge in an all-stock transaction; shares are halted.
Good question. Have you asked the CEO or the CFO?
what does this mean for people who have SGY common stock?
I have 2129 shares.
Are they only going to issue warrants?

Anyone know what the tender offer is?
Was a nice run to double digits from pre OPEC announcement. Out of play for now.
Why is Stone Energy falling radically?
I bought this stock about 2 weeks ago when its price was about 5 dollars.
I determined to hold for a long time since it dropped hugely.
However, it began to drop sharply from yesterday.
What is happening here?
This drop is related to bankruptcy???
Seeing its financial report, its operating income is getting better (Big reduction of deficit).
I began to worry since I put one BMW money here, which is the cash I saved throughout my entire life).

SGY vs BXE(Oil industry comparisons)
1)SGY and BXE are oil stocks.
2)SGY= $8.05 per share.
3)BXE= $0.90 per share.
4)BXE is UP on good news. Here's the 12/5/16 GOOD news:

I may be wrong but, I think after the BK, the debt is wiped out and the assets remain. They have a lot of oil assets.
Someone help me understand what is going on. I am an admitted novice. Can someone please explain to me why this stock is surging even though the company has announced that a pre-packaged bankruptcy filing is imminent? Shouldn't this stock be heading in the opposite direction?

How does ELTZ fit into all this? Someone definetely loaded a boatload this week
Thomas Satterfield files 13D reporting 9.92% ownership in SGY - https://fintel.io/i13d/satterfield-thomas-a-jr
Fintel says it's a decrease in shares but an increase in ownership percentage from 6.0% to 9.92%, which sounds like there was a reverse split recently.

STONE ENERGY CORPORATION
Announces Update from MMS Moratorium
LAFAYETTE, LA. June 1, 2010
Stone Energy Corporation (NYSE: SGY) today announced that the Minerals Management Service issued
a Notice to Lessees ("NTL") on May 30, 2010 directing lessees and operators to cease drilling all new
deepwater wells on federal leases in the Gulf of Mexico for six months. For purposes of this six-month
deepwater moratorium ("NTL Moratorium"), "deepwater" means depths greater than 500 feet. This NTL
Moratorium will delay drilling of the second well (Vili) in Stone Energy's Amberjack drilling program.
Current production from the Amberjack platform remains unaffected and overall production guidance for
2010 remains in the original range of 205-225 million cubic feet equivalents per day. Drilling plans for
several conventional shelf wells and two deep shelf wells (one currently drilling) do not appear to be
impacted by the moratorium. Drilling operations in our Marcellus program and Rocky Mountain projects are
continuing as planned. Adjustments in the 2010 capital budget are being reviewed.
