So how did everyone's disc golfing go this year? I had twins and did not get out much, but i slightly improved throughout the year.
Still need to get better at a ton of things though :(
When i started playing, for sure Innova. As i got more experienced, it is now discraft by a wide margin.
Discraft discs do what they say they are going to do. Innova? Not so much.
Although my favorite driver is still the Innova Wraith.
We had a national tourn a few months ago here in Ocala, FL. Great event . My friends played, I watched sidelined with an injury.
Anyone play in PDGA events?
Hey My 2 Cents, thanks for the welcome mat. I see there are not a lot of postings lately. Looks like folks are tossing discs. haha
Good idea on the board, I searched disc golf and there you were. I've only been playing for 2 years, but I love it. I moved down to the states from Alaska a while back...and how luck is, there was a beautiful disc course put in 1/4 mile away from my house..haha In Florida now, lot of courses here. Check ya later, Pik
Hey Pickl,
Thanks for finding us! The board's been quiet for many months, but the same four (and now five) of us still have it boardmarked - a testament to how great a sport it is I think. Love the modified ball-golf cart idea, hah.
Welcome!
Hey disc golfers! before I started to play, I watched so many videos on How-To. I love the game. Gave away my golf clubs, but kept the cart and modified it for discs and beer. Pik
Where is everyone? How is everyone doing here? How is the disc golf game coming?
Going to play tonight, been playing 2 times a week. I keep trying to get my drive further, to no avail!!! I THINK I NEED LESSONS!
Im stuck at 300 feet, and reading some info on the web, someone says with the right form you should do 350 feet no problem. Arggg!
Hows it doing??
I kinda like CTIC now.
Remember when I alerted AEMD here? :) (link back)
It was one of the best I've ever played, along with this one (new video!):
http://vimeo.com/channels/inthewest
thanks for sharing - course looks really, really nice. Neat to be able to do!
Hey guys - here's some disc golf footage from my trip out west..
http://www.vimeo.com/6495649
HA!
I set my personal records at 2 diff courses by my house the last week and a half.
Still need to improve the accuracy of my backhand drive (i do x-step so im not looking at target when i release) and i need to learn to flick better, and need to learn the path of the tomohawk.
Just had a new corse open up about 10 miles from my house.Kinda weird but I will get the hang of it.Dont play near as often as I would like but my brother on the other hand is doing contests and is really good now....jerk...lol
How has everyone's disc golf game been going this year? I started out terribly, but am doing well of late.
Still need to improve accuracy on my backhand drive. That is my biggest 'need' as of now. My problem is i x-step (have to so i get distance) and by doing that, i am not looking forward at the basket. Need to chance up my backhand somehow.
Thanks 2, ill check it out - how did you shoot?
Hey guys, wanted to share this with you... some footage from my disc golf trip out west. Unfortunately, there's not any actual disc golf footage yet, but some beautiful scenery. If you like what you see you can subscribe to the channel and watch for when I finish editing the disc golf stuff. Some absolutely gorgeous courses out there.
http://vimeo.com/channels/inthewest
Boy, my game has degraded this year :(
Off to play again today!!! 4th time out this year.
Terrible, it was so muddy, we did not even finish. We got through 10 and called it a day.
How was the round? I leave for my spring trip in 5 days
By the way, going out to play today also - 2nd time this year.
Things i want to work on this year:
Last year i worked on my drive. I improved it from a drive of 225 - 250 feet, to 275 - 300 feet. Basically by implementing the x-step pull through. I cant seem to build on it and get over 300 feet. I practice often at a football field, and i my records are all between 95 to 98 yards. Every drive is over 80 yards though so pretty consistant there. But cant seem to improve on it and get over 300 feet.
Anyway, the 2 things i want to focus on this year is putting and get a straight, very straight accurate shot for throwing down very tight alleys.
I have a Buzz and an ace (i think the buzz is best for straight though) but i need to clean up my form for a straight shot.
Right now, i just am not very accurate when throwing down tight alleys. Probably because i do the x-step for this also.
I leave for my spring disc golf trip in 9 days... so psyched
Haha, maybe it was because you had ANY beer compared to none?
I got out a couple weeks ago and played my first round - it got up to 70 degrees in Michigan.
I putted UNBELEIVABLY well. Driving and mid-range were average.
Did very well though for first time out. Maybe it was because i only had 6 beers????
Hey guys, put AEMD on your watch lists, it might be starting to make a move, and if it does, I don't think it'll look back, IMO.
H O L D your money and wait for media to see obama come in and then things change.Media in control now.
Helllooooo....Anyone have a good pick out there in this ugly market!? Holy crap.
I haven't given it time, either, obviously. As long as you all keep it boardmarked I'll start it back up again, I promise!
It doesn't mean we have to stop giving our fellow disc golfers picks, though.
Like everyone else, i'm watching PURO and WNBD, and I'm always watching AEMD.
WOW Man....sounds like an amazing trip. Sorry I havent been able to work on the iBox...The stock tumble kinda has everyone scratching their head....I loved the game...just got away
*jealous*
Is that what you are planning for next year?
My Spring Disc Golf Trip:

Day 2) Rent car, drive up to Red Feather Lakes (the Leister, MA of the west) and play its two 5-star courses all day. Spend the night there.

Day 4) Play any combo of 3 18-hole courses in Vail, Glenwood and Leadville, all conveniently located along the interstate leading to Utah, as we make our way west. Drive to Grand Junction, CO at night.
Day 5) Drive through red rock country. Visit Moab and hike Arches National Park. Play the Base Camp Adventure Lodge disc golf course if we feel up to it. Drive South and motel it somewhere.
Day 6) Drive through the mountains and canyonlands of the Escalante. Visit Bryce Canyon National Park.
Day 7) Visit and hike Zion National Park. Make the 2 hour drive to Las Vegas.
Day 8) Fly out of Las Vegas - McCarron Airport.

Last week results (only positive results w/alias):
No positive results, week ending 10-03-08
WNBD My 2 Cents even 0.0%
Rules:
Anyone who enters a pick each Sunday is eligible for that week.
Whoever picks the best weekly % gainer for any given week will get a 1; the second best a 2; third best a 3, etc.. down to ten. Once we get enough participants to go beyond 10 the tenth worst and beyond will each get a 10 for that week.
The winner will be determined by overall score (among those who play every week) as well as average score among of the weeks the player has participated. Obviously, there's an advantage to getting in before there are 10 players as you automatically can only get as bad a score as there are # of players (is there an easy control for this?) so sign up now!
I know the contest sounds super lame, but this is your chance for some friendly competition and potentially bragging rights (and boardmarks) as well. It will also act as a general forum where we can alert each other on our weekly picks.

You Know You're A Disc Golf Addict When...
By: The St. Louis Disc Golf Home Page
You have three or more versions of the same disc.
You are sure the color of the disc effects how it flies.
You have started a Disc Golf Web Page.
When designing your new house, one room on the blueprints is called "Hot Stamp Gallery Room".
You have ever advertised "Disc Golf Lessons" in a local newspaper.
After playing a course once, you already know how it should be re-designed.
You have ever uttered the following: "I'll get my disc out of the basket when this lightning dies down."
Your boss catches you looking for new doglegs to throw around at work.
You have ever bought a pair of shoes specifically for playing Disc Golf in them.
You always carry your Disc Golf bag with you just in case you get some sudden free time.
You have ever petitioned the IOC to make Disc Golf an Olympic Sport.
You have spent more money on Disc Golf supplies than you have on your car.
You have ever bought a disc for specific use on ONE hole.
You accepted a job relocation to another town on the basis that a course was in the area.
Your wife/husband doesn't let you set the table because you throw the plates.
You can't stand the thought of not being able to buy just one more disc.
You build a backyard swimming pool to be used only as a water hazard.
If you keep track of your PDGA points.
If you can tell someone your league average off the top of your head.
You can point out a "discin'" callous on your hand.
You called more than one friend when the "frolf" episode of "Seinfeld" aired.
If you have named a pet "Bogie". "Hyzer", "Aviar", or some other disc golf term.
If you have ever thought about trying to build your own basket.
If you have ever hung a disc on the wall and all your friends think it's cool.
You ever screamed YES! as loud as you can in a public park, then wonder why people are looking at you.
The only quality time you get with your family is when you drag them out to the course to show them your great "S" flight path.
You spend more than 3 hours searching for a lost golf disc.
You have caused at least 3 of your friends to become addicted to the sport as well.
You try to figure out how many golf discs you can buy with your next paycheck.
When you miss a putt and whip out 5 more putters from your bag and throw each of them from the same spot just to prove to your friends that you could have made it.
You are swimming in the ocean and someone yells, "Shark!!” and you holler back, "Are you crazy? From this far away??"
You have spent so much money at the course pro shop, they name the course after you.
You beg the course pro to put lights on the course so you can play all night too.
You are golfing by yourself, and you let your "imaginary friends" tee first so you can show them how its done.
You believe that with the right discs firmly grasped in each hand, you could fly.
You have ever talked to your discs while they are in flight.
You buy a membership in a gym, so you can improve your distance.
You have ever called in sick to work on Monday; to play the same course you played Sunday.
If you carry an extra version of a disc in case the first one breaks or gets lost.
You introduce new discs to your other discs.
You are willing to spend $400 a year getting a basket to start a new course but you still have the couch your mother gave you when you moved out.
You throw your approach disc even after a really bad drive, just on principle.
Your PDGA number is also on your car's license plate.
You skip Monday Night Football to attend a DG meeting.
You decide it is too windy to go snowboarding, and opt to play a round of disc golf instead.
You have ever attended a community meeting on behalf of disc golf.
You have established the par from the water cooler back to your cubical.
You carry copies of DGJ and DGWN everywhere you go so you can validate the sports existence to non-believers.
You get into heated debates about what kind of discs beginners should use and for how long.
You have ever developed a disc golf specific injury.
You practice snapping a disc off at home while watching TV.
You have ever chased down someone else’s dog to get your disc out of its mouth.
You call ball golf...ball golf.
You arrive at a tourney 3 hours from home and promptly spend all your lunch money on new discs.
You have read this entire list.
