Downthehatch, thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. Also, bravo and thank you to David Hallonsten for focusing on these important problems!
Hi, Snow:
The situation is exactly the same here in America.
Maybe the cavalier manners will change as people realize the seriousness of catching Covid-19.
Social protocols may evolve to deal with the deadly threat of contagious diseases in an interconnected world.
"What's natural is the microbe. All the rest — health, integrity, purity — is a product of the human will, of a vigilance that must never falter. The good man, the man who infects hardly anyone, is the man who has the fewest lapses of attention."

Some research shows that the virus can travel 13' and much of it drops to the floor.

It doesn't mean anything in economical terms. It doesn't even matter what you call it.
When TRW acquired the farms, apparently some of the older partners (owners) exited. They have to get paid. But TRW never had any surplus cash. Right now there is still $40.5M debt remaining. They will get paid by mid 2021 after which TRW will generate lots of cash. RD
Maybe it's premature to think about the economics of a dividend, but would you venture to guess whether a small dividend would/could be initiated at this stage?

Always looking forward to receiving each report because I do see incremental progress.
Like others here I, too, have lost a fortune in Chinese investments, but I'll probably never sell SIAF. Personally, I think it's worth the wait because it's unlike any other Chinese stock I've ever owned.
What is the China team? I'm not sure I understand exactly what that means.
By the way, I think the chart looks awful:

I've always viewed SIAF as a Special Situation stock rather than a Value stock.
Comparing other equities to SIAF helps me see SIAF in a new light. Learning about HERB when presented in this way seems relevant and noteworthy. Thanks, RD.
"What Is a Special Situation?"
"A special situation refers to particular circumstances involving a security that would compel investors to buy the security based on the special situation, rather than the underlying fundamentals of the security or some other investment rationale. This type of investment is an attempt to profit from a potential rise in valuation that the special situation presents. There could be a near-term catalyst to quickly gain from the resolution of a special situation, or it could take many months or years."

I've been wondering if it's the bankers who are really requiring that
dividends be postponed...?

This volume pattern probably will prevent a continuing advance. If we could increase the volume with funds from a cash dividend we might be able to sustain the advance. [hint-hint]

Guess what! Our Chinese bankers belong to the largest banking system in the world.
Considering some of the standards that probably must be applied to achieve such
international lending growth, this article may give some insight into how they
evaluate companies like SIAF.

With the really high PEs seen on the Hong Kong exchange, shoudln't Tri-Way have a much, much higher SP than SIAF? The price should be based on projected growth... right?
A P/E of 15.6 in 2023 would get us to $100.
Will the Tri-Way SP be in the same potential range as SIAF?

Negative Volume Index - NVI
"...NVI counts price changes when volume decreases and discounts price changes when volume increases. The assumption is that the smart (informed) money is at work when volume decreases and the not-so-smart (uninformed) money is at work when volume increases. Keep in mind that this indicator was designed for broad market indices and exchange volume. It can be used on stocks and ETFs, but NVI does not always act as expected. NVI will produce some great bullish/bearish divergence signals with some stocks, but look totally out of sync with other stocks. As with all indicators, NVI should not be used on its own. Instead, chartists should use it in conjunction with other analysis techniques...."

Does anyone think we may have Dark Pool accumulation? Here's a description of Dark Pool activity:
http://stockcharts.com/articles/tac/2014/10/martha-stokes-dark-pools-accumulation.html#at_pco=smlrebh-1.0&at_si=568eaf56ff6c3ad0&at_ab=per-4&at_pos=0&at_tot=5
Excerpts:
...Dark Pools are far away from the exchanges where most HFTs and pros trade. Hidden on their private venues, they have specialized orders that also are automated and trigger on specific price and time algorithms.....
....These are designed with such sophistication the Dark Pools rarely alter a trend and are in complete control creating platforms, which are narrower than a trading range but wider than a consolidation pattern....
....Since their orders are controlled bracketed orders that define a specific price range, this sideways price action has very concise highs and lows...
....Volume during accumulation often is below average, and only HFTs spike the volume and create weaker runs. As the stock moves down, which can occur even while accumulation is underway as the Dark Pool's goal is not to disturb the trend, the Accum/Dist indicator shows that the buying slows. The buying continues though as the stock drops to a lower fundamental support level....

Could the clearly observed SIAF manipulation possibly be a combination of shorting with counterfeit shares and Dark Pool accumulation?

After reading all the thought and conjecture regarding SIAF collateral shares, here's another speculative idea. Maybe the lender has offered unrealistically generous terms because they wish to participate in the Pre-IPO/IPO, which is generally considered a great opportunity. Perhaps, they've taken on the role of financial enabler in order to advance progress of the carve-out and then become an important part of it...(?)
I have to say some of the comments here are really scary, so I'm just offering a more positive spin on the near future of our investment....

"SINO AGRO FOOD INC is showing strong Balance Sheet Quality, and Valuation
suggests a lower amount of price risk, but Earnings Quality, Cash Flow Quality and
Operating Efficiency are weak. When combined, SIAF deserves a SELL rating.
The Balance Sheet rating improved on the strength of better receivables and inventory
positions. Though this dimension and all of the others were either stronger or
unchanged at worst, it was not sufficient to raise the overall rating."

Traderfan and All:
Will the gap close here?
Are we to believe this news is real and valid, since the company has not issued a denial of it?
If this were faux news, according to comments here, the price should probably continue to decline... right?
"I don't think it's the shorts." RD
RD, I can't believe regular retail shareholders are responsible for this shocking SP descent...
It's just irrational to be selling during the past two years. While the SP has plunged, we've had amazingly positive news and incredible progress, albeit not perfect progress. How unrealistic to expect perfection!
Serious investors realize there will be complications when a company experiences explosive growth in China, executes a demanding reorganization, maintains R&D [research and development], pursues QC [quality control], establishes employee training, and, BTW, keeps right on producing.
Also, although we've been kept waiting, to sell while expecting a huge stock dividend is just senseless. It's hard to imagine anyone here selling after being informed of the stock dividend!
Look at the chart!
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SIAF&p=W&yr=2&mn=6&dy=0&id=p90442324204
This is a dangerous, manipulative pattern and it requires attention. A cash dividend, an investigation, a road show, whatever it takes.... SIAF should act to reverse the deterioration in our investment and improve the (false) image of the company.
I have a CC question: What is the corporate opinion on the reasoning behind the extreme SP suppression, and have they ever considered a forensic investigation to uncover the strange price manipulation SIAF is experiencing?
[And yes, I'm pro-dividend.]
Snow, I agree that Solomon not only cares about others, but is also self-sacrificing. Just one example would be the huge loans to SIAF from his personal funds....
KS1977, I know from [distant] family connections and experience that Dan and Solomon are highly ethical and totally caring people with pristine reputations. I'm just saying.... FYI!
I only have admiration and respect for Solomon Lee and Dan Ritchey, so I hope everyone understands our motivations in advocating for the cash dividend. Our concern comes from experience witnessing other vulnerable companies being damaged or destroyed.
The main reason for a dividend, here, is to thwart a lethal short attack, calculated to destroy the company and potentially position it for a hostile take-over. In addition to that, it is time for long term share holders to earn at least a token reward for their investment of time and money.
The dividend would obstruct some shorting because the legitimate shorters must pay the dividend on their shorted shares. And, if investors continue to buy and hold for the yield on the stock that would help create stability in the share price.
Let's protect our investment!
Je suis d'accord.... thanks once again for sharing so much research with us!
