The solution, which incorporates between One and Three HALO units per turbine, protects the Base, Tower, Nacelle and Blades. Blade damage is, by far, the most expensive and disruptive damage caused by lightning but damage to the control system is far more common, according to the National Fire Protection Association handbook. While strikes directly to the blades can result in the immediate explosion of expanding gas within the blade, much of the damage goes undetected and can result in a shortened service life. Other common damage caused by lightning strikes includes damage to the control system, switchgear elements, generators and batteries. According to one study, lightning strikes account for 80% of all insurance claims on wind turbines.

SUMMARY OF PROTECTION

XZERES Receives First Orders from VG Energy and Other New Dealers in the UK Market
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- XZERES Corp. (OTCBB: XPWR), designer, developer and producer of advanced wind power systems and innovative power management and power efficiency devices for the renewable and clean energy markets, today announced significant progress in the UK market, including:

The Company received its first order from VG Energy worth approx $360k. On September 20th, XZERES had announced an agreement with VG Energy that is exclusive to both parties in defined areas of the UK and subject to minimum purchases of $5 million by VG over the next 15 months. According to XZERES CEO, Frank Greco, "Having received this initial order, out-of-the-gate within the first 3 weeks, we are excited to see immediate success from VG's marketing and selling initiatives and have solid confidence in VG's ability to meet or exceed their stated targets."
The Company also announced that Hutchinson Engineering, the UK market leader for towers and other wind turbine support structures (in the 1kW to 50kW size range) has completed and introduced a state-of-the-art adapter plate, to which design both XZERES and VG Energy will have the rights, enabling an XZERES turbine to sit atop a tower originally designed for a Proven P-35/2 turbine. "We believe there is a substantial retrofit opportunity with this adapter plate enabling potential customers to install a XZERES turbine on existing Proven tower structures," stated Greco.
The Company received its first order from a UK dealer taking advantage of the innovative Hutchinson adapter plate. These units will be placed on existing tower structures, thereby saving the customer significant time and expense to install the XZERES system on an existing tower.

XPWR Announces Q1 Fiscal Year 2012 Financial Results; 57% Sequential Growth

ZERES Corp., designer, developer and producer of distributed generation wind power systems for the small wind market (2.5kW-100kW) and power management and efficiency devices for the commercial and light industrial market, just announced its financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended May 31, 2011.

Revenue for the quarter totaled $1,017,217, a 57% sequential increase as compared to the fiscal fourth quarter ending February 28, 2011. Revenue by channel for the first quarter for its wind power systems business grew to 47.2% direct and 52.8% indirect as compared to 32.8% direct and 67.2% indirect for the previous fourth quarter. In future quarters, the company anticipates growing sales of its recently acquired line of power management and power efficiency products.

“During the first quarter, we saw continued growth as we began initial deliveries of our new 442SR next generation 10-kilowatt turbine small wind power systems,” said Frank P. Greco, CEO and President. “We also achieved significant sales model progress in terms of our revenue by channel mix, with an increasing percentage of our sales being direct. This direct sales success is the result of our efforts that began last July, when we decided to initiate a disruptive sales model approach to the conventional, purely dealer-based, distribution model that has been prevalent in the wind turbine business and instead focus more of our efforts upon direct, self-reliant, internally generated business, thereby gaining several distinct advantages.”
