well, MY dog is the labrador, not the little beast from hell. I inherited it and enjoy it a lot. It is a sweet dog, dumb as a post, but loyal as dubya is to cheney. It goes hunting with me a lot, however, it has no clue what we are hunting, and tends to eat any downed quail in about two gulps if she gets to them first. My stepson's German shorthair is a magnificently trained bird dog, great nose, holds birds well, and retrieves perfectly. It has been trained to not chase the ever-present jackrabbits out on the desert, which was a feat in and of itself. It also ate the seat off of a brand new John Deere tractor and has spent time wearing a chicken it killed around its neck, which worked. Not sure how to cure it of eating tractor seats.
My dog, Lucy, has literally run into jackrabbits and doesn't even look up if she flushes one. It mainly goes along for moral support, and to keep the world clear of any dropped sandwiches or other food items.
