Some spice'eeeee tuna sure sounds good right now!
I wish they'd send me some.
Local guy here that I usually buy 50-60lbs of albacore from I think must have sold his whole catch to the Vancouver sushi people, he usually keeps some for us locals at $1.50lb. Oh well.
Nice yellow fin........send me some of the sushi grade off of that puppy!
While you two are rattling your cups on the bars, thought you might like to see this, friends/neighbors have a place in Fiji where they spend the winters.
Yesterday Robin, an expert flyfisher by the way, and wife of the fellow in the picture, got this 85lb Yellowfin. Took her over an hour to get it in, small sharks circling when she got it on top. Luckily there were two 10/0 hooks in it as one 100lb rated s/s split ring opened up.

LOL just what a guy needs, bulletproof underwear. Is it warm?
I have several pairs of...
Dyneema underwear. I can attest to it's strength under the most severe of working conditions. Absolutely 'bullet proof'.

No conductivity aaaaaaaaaaa damn!!!
Just realized a problem with that material using it on downrigger. Black box won't work with it and I wouldn't be able to fiddle with the voltage given off.
My boat's natural voltage is all right at +.68 which is okay but sometimes strikes can be induced by moving the voltage up or down a bit.

Well hell then, Lets build some race boats with it, Wonder if it can be glassed in place to form a hull?? Indestructible boat, Like that thought!!
I'd never heard of it until about 10 minutes ago.

Salt Water Fishing for November 28
Overview
Salmon anglers are having good action with winter springs in most areas. The springs are running up to 23 lbs, but most are from 5 to 10 lbs. A few halibut up to 50 lbs were also caught last week. If you have any fishing info, notable catches or tips that you would like to share or have included in our fishing report, please email us at info@fishingvictoria.com.
Sooke
Salmon fishing was GOOD this past week for winter springs up to 12 lbs. If you went out you probably got a limit. Most boats are on the water for only a couple of hours before coming back in. Most of the action has been coming from around the Sooke Bluffs. Fish in about 160 feet of water with your lines on the downrigger at 150 and you'll get excellent action on fish up to about 14 pounds. Anchovy, Herring, and Herring Strip were all good natural baits. Rhys Davis teaser heads in Glow or Purple Haze have been good bait holders. With plastic baits go with, Purple Haze, Army Truck or Green/White color patterns. Spoons will work great too and the best ones are the Coyotes, Titans, Devil Tail or Gibbs Gators with Green or Glow White colors. Actually, the fishing has been so good it really doesn’t make too much difference what you use as long as you have confidence in it. HALIBUT – None were reported this past week. Extra Large Herring or mackerel, fished off a spreader bar, is the most productive bait out west.
Becher Bay
Salmon fishing has been GOOD for springs averaging 8 to 14 lbs. There are some bigger ones around and two over 19 lbs and one 23 lb fish were reported. The salmon are being caught inside the bay, between Fraser Island and the camp site, in the deep trough there. Jim Bishop caught a 19.5 lb winter spring there at 130' on a 4" Cop Car Coyote spoon fished behind a green/blue/silver flasher. Anchovy and medium herring have been the best baits and Rhys Davis teaser heads in Chrome or Glow colors have been good bait holders. Hootchies have also been very effective and Army Truck, Glow White with Green, Green & White and Pink Glow have been the best colors to use.
Pedder Bay
Salmon fishing has been GOOD when the weather isn’t too bad according to the marina. Winter springs in the 6 to 7 lb size range are providing action around the Navy Can Buoy at the mouth of the bay. Work the deep hole there and you should get some action. Whirl Bay and Church Rock have also good spots for similar sized fish. Most anglers are using anchovies in glow or chrome teaser heads right now. Hootchies have been also been effective and Army Truck, White, Green & White and Purple Haze have been the best colors to use. If you want to troll spoons, be sure it has Green, Chartreuse or Yellow colors, and the best ones now are Coyotes, Gypsies or Titans. HALIBUT – Halibut fishing was SLOW this past week, mostly due to weather and tides. Octopus, Extra Large Herring or Mackerel fished off of a spreader bar has been the most successful way to catch the big flatfish recently. However, when the dogfish are around you might want to try a Lucky Jig or a Mudraker Jig instead of bait.
haaaaa well the first two are possible, but that third idea?????? You might have a lil trouble wit dat LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking about about putting my house on the market.
I want a one bedroom cottage with about a 60 by 120 shop in the back and in the center of about 20 acres.
And no wife.
Have fun,
Phil
That farm house needed tore down and that 30X60 shop???? haaa The ceiling was 2" above my head, and one back long wall was about 3" out of plumb in 6 foot!!!!! That place has been on the market for years, and i see why!!! I am really liking this new home, huge two car garage with storage room INSIDE the garage!! NICE!@!!!!!!! and parking for 4 up top, and lots down below in time, I can handle that!!!
Were it me I would have chosen the POS farmhouse with all of the already built outbuildings.
But that's just me.
LOL
Have fun,
Phil
Im going to keep the big boat and bellboy here on a friends place, and take the woodie and slayer to the new home!!! I have plans for the place, and in time will have another 2 bay shop!!
Not too bad at all.
Where are you going to keep all of your boats?
Phil

Rick,
How far will you be from the big water?
I hope not too far.
Phil
HAAAA Those quills on the rock cod must have a poison or something in them Jim, Hurt like hell!!!! Bummer on the no show of salmon in your boat!!!!! I wonder what will be in these lakes where I am moving besides Trout??? Big a$$ lake , should be fun!!!
Sheeesh, there was lots of salmon around on the weekend and Monday, not today. Only 5 boats out, it got ugly when the wind kicked up just after noon.
One boat got one small spring...I got 4 ling and one little rock cod...that was it. No retention of ling that area right now. The little rocky flipped onto my hand and stung my fingee with a dorsal spine...whole finger went numb for about an hour, the little devil.
Very nice Jim!!!!! I hope I can find some time to throw the slayer in the water this winter!!!!
Winter spring fishing heating up, it's time. Will try to get over to the Bay near where we launched with you every nice day now.

Sounds like fun, but changing color, not much meat left, I caught some here just before they tried going up the ladder and only meat was on the backbones, None at all in the sides, But real fun to catch!!!!!
Guess I should have braved the cold today and gone. Found this report from today on the place we were two weeks ago.
-------------
Finally got out for a while today. The fish were concentrated in "large schools" (I'll say! About an acre big and thick like a school of huge herring!) in between Pat Bay and Mill Bay. Took a while, but once the bite came on we slayed for about 3 hours. Only two of us in the boat (and not a single other boat around!!) and we got in to three quadriple headers! Total of probably 30 fish hooked and maybe 20 landed. Only a guess, we stopped counting. What a blast! Most of the fish were were pretty colored up, but still fought like hell. Didn't bother to keep any (I need more salmon in the freezer like I need a hole in the head)but some looked like they would have been OK.
All fish caught on Pink & Blue squirts 36 - 42" behind a flasher. The type of flasher didn't seem to matter. We tried putting spin & glows in front of the hoochie but once the bite came on, that didn't seem to make any difference either.
Perhaps it was just time for the bite to come on anyway, but it seemed we really started to slay fish once we speeded up a bit. Talk about hits! Holy crap I've never seen a rod get slammed so hard. Very cool!
Depths were 20 - 80 feet right in the middle of the channel almost all the way in to Pat Bay.
I'll definitely have a go at this again!! Sure beats the micros you tend to hit for winters at this time of year, or the "living dead" you tend to get on the flow....
I'm still stoked. God I hate having to work for a living. Oh well, maybe next weekend they'll still be there....
Gooey.
Same here, I have been burning for two days, Amazing the wood products i had stored around here, HAAAA I can part with them, Man ol man, seafood stir fry, Your pawns, scallops, mussels
oyster and shitaki mushrooms, bean sprouts, celery, 1 yellow bell pepper, 1 cup of crushed garlic, LOL, and 1 jalpenopeppahead pepper for BAMMMMMMMMMMM
