Palatin Technologies, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, develops peptide, peptide mimetic, and small molecule agonist compounds with a focus on melanocortin and natriuretic peptide receptor systems in the United States. Its drug development programs include Bremelanotide, a peptide melanocortin receptor agonist for the treatment of sexual dysfunction, targeting female sexual dysfunction and erectile dysfunction in patients non-responsive to current therapies; peptide and small molecule melanocortin receptor agonists for treatment of female sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and other indications; and PL-3994, a peptide mimetic natriuretic peptide receptor A agonist for the treatment of acute exacerbations of asthma and heart failure. The company has research collaboration and license agreement with AstraZeneca AB to commercialize compounds that target melanocortin receptors for the treatment of obesity, diabetes, and related metabolic syndrome. Palatin Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1986 and is based in Cranbury, New Jersey.
