IBSS Integrated Business Systems & Services (http://www.ibss.net/index.htm) IBSS is a software company specializing in INTELLIGENT Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) SOLUTIONS. IBSS trades on the pink sheets. The March 2, 2007 close was $0.12, giving the company a $3.9 Million market cap with 32.5 million shares outstanding. IBSS has recently signed a partnership with Nortel (see below) that should have a significant impact on IBSS’s revenue. IBSS’s all time high was $18.00. Wal Mart was one of the first companies to embrace RFID, and is installing RFID equipment at all of their stores and distribution centers. Wal Mart is also requiring 200 of their largest suppliers to implement RFID. More at: http://www.rfidgazette.org/ Another emerging market for RFID is hospitals – where it is being implemented to track equipment. The January 2007 APICS magazine article “Where’s My DEFIBRILLATOR?” makes the case for RFID in hospitals and states that “The technology is on the cusp of widespread adoption.” The article can be found at: http://www.apics.org/NR/rdonlyres/541CEC83-A9BF-4B79-BFCE-9D5BADB25C02/0/2833_Jan07.pdf Radianse Inc., discussed in the artilcle, is a partner of IBSS. Further evidence that hospitals are looking to embrace RFID is Nortel’s entrance into the market. Nortel already provides products and services to a large percentage of hospitals in the US and is in a great position to capitalize on the market. And IBSS is their partner! Here is what Nortel said: “Nortel Asset Tracking and Management increases hospital care and efficiency by enabling the tracking and instant location of thousands of monitors and other medical equipment. The solution can also be used for real-time location tracking of both hospital staff and patients - such as infants and other at-risk patients - within the hospital complex. The solution incorporates Real Time Location Systems and Wi-Fi tags from Ekahau and Nortel WLAN 2300 series access points to pinpoint tagged items within three meters accuracy. This solution also includes Syntrack for Health Care, an asset tracking application from intelligent RFID solutions provider Integrated Business Systems and Services, and Nortel Global Services. Northeast Georgia Health Systems, a growing not-for-profit healthcare community, recently deployed a Nortel WLAN and is considering deploying Asset Tracking and Management for its growing inventory of medical equipment” The entire press release is at: http://www2.nortel.com/go/news_detail.jsp?cat_id=-8055&oid=100215773&locale=en-US IBSS’s SynTrack™ for Healthcare uses (RFID) technology to efficiently manage hospital staff and equipment. SynTrack lets healthcare organizations benefit from improved asset management, which helps to reduce costs and improve patient care. SynTrack uses RFID tags to track the location of assets in real time, so that your staff can immediately locate any tracked asset on any of your campuses. The time saved can now be focused on improving the quality of patient care. The SynTrack for Healthcare application offers a powerful framework, capable of supporting multiple RFID and Automatic Data Collection technologies. Its architecture offers scalability and enables smooth integration to enterprise systems Among the unique challenges faced by hospitals in the management of capital assets is that so many of them, from Infusion Pumps to Beds to OR tables, are on wheels. In any hospital corridor, equipment is either moving from one place to another, or parked along the wall waiting to go somewhere. Finding a needed piece of equipment can take a healthcare provider precious minutes. In a typical hospital day, these lost minutes can add up to hours of lost productivity. With SynTrack™ for Healthcare you can use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to efficiently manage hospital staff and equipment.
