GTT awarded contract by UN agency to provide connectivity solutions
Oct 17, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Global Telecom & Technology Inc (GTT) (OTCBB:GTLT), a Multi-Network Operator, announced on Thursday (16 October) that the United Nations (UN), primarily for its relief and works programmes for Palestinian refugees, has selected the company to provide wide area network (WAN) solutions to numerous locations across the Middle East and Europe.
Under the multi-year, multi-million dollar contract, GTT will deploy a secure, MPLS-based network to interconnect several key UN office locations in Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy and Switzerland.
GTT will integrate this WAN solution with the UN's existing Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) network to provide state of the art network redundancy and resiliency. The company will supply, install and manage the network equipment to support each accompanying UN site, in addition to providing the UN with additional bandwidth and network intelligence.
