Geely Automobile Holdings Limited is a Hong Kong-based investment holding company. The Company, together with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the research, production, marketing and sales of sedans and related automobile components in the People’s Republic of China. During the year ended December 31, 2009, the Company sold a total of 326,710 units of vehicles. In 2009, it sold 110,700 units of Free Cruiser branded sedans. In April 2009, it launched the second generation of Geely Kingkong model, and the 1.5 liter version of Vision branded automobiles. On June 15, 2009, the Company acquired the business of designing, developing and manufacturing automatic transmissions in Australia. The Company acquired Chengdu Gaoyuan Automobile Industries Company Limited and Lanzhou Geely Automobile Industries Company Limited on December 7, 2009, and December 8, 2009, respectively. Subsequently to the year ended December 31, 2009, the Company acquired Jinan Geely Automobile Company Limited.
In 2010, Geely sold less than its 680,000 units/year manufacturing capacity and bought Volvo Cars from Ford. Total sales in 2010 were 415,286 units an increase of 27.1 percent over the prior year. This exceeded a 400,000 unit sales goal.[
