CBS News Video about the Iris Technology:
This technology existing here with THE EVERMEDIA GROUP, INC. is awesome and save lives. Scanning your eyes for identification purposes is considered an even better source than using DNA or fingerprinting. Fingerprinting can take days. DNA can take months or up to a year. This Iris technology can take only 3 to 5 seconds. Look at the below links/video demonstration of this Iris technology that was shown on a local NBC network news station out of New Mexico; the KOB TV Eyewitness News 4:
EMBC holds two U.S. Patents (U.S. Patent No. 7,302,087 and U.S. Patent No. 7,298,874), two Korean patents and two Chinese patents. EMBC also has two additional patent applications pending in the U.S. and two pending applications in the United Kingdom.
According to the International Biometrics Group, the biometrics market is expected to grow at a 40% CAGR through 2008, from an estimated $1.2 billion in 2004 to $4.6 billion in 2008.
The biometrics industry in 2005 generated $1.53 billion and is expected to grow to more than $5.74 billion in annual revenue by 2010, according to industry market research firm International Biometrics Group (IBG). With global and domestic events involving security, homeland defense, political and social issues, the need for highly accurate yet non-invasive individual identification technologies has never been greater.
EMBC has developed and manufactured an iris-based access device that allows for keyless and secure entry. The EC-I400 device is a wall mounted unit that can be used as a stand-alone access control point or it can be networked to administer multiple points of entry. Currently, the company is developing advanced iris-recognition systems which can be used for border security, transportation, customs and military applications as well as for online banking and financial transactions.

Why are our products better than the competition? Because we use highly sophisticated, patented iris recognition algorithms that are known to produce more accurate results than any other iris recognition algorithms yet developed. Below is the difference between Evermedia Biometrics algorithm and Iridian's algorithm.
About the Iris
The unique pattern on the surface of the iris is formed during the first year of life, and pigmentation occurs during an individual's first few years. Formation of the unique patterns of the iris is random and not related to any genetic factors.
The only characteristic that is dependent on genetics is the pigmentation of the iris, which determines its color. An individual's two eyes contain completely independent iris patterns, and even identical twins possess uncorrelated iris patterns. The unique pattern of the iris does not change throughout one's adult life.
How it Works
The unique patterns of an individual's iris can be used with great accuracy to verify the claimed identity of any person.
A digital camera is used to capture an image of an individual's iris. The image is then encoded into a biometric template, which can be stored in a database. The biometric template contains an objective mathematical representation of the unique pattern of a person's iris and allows comparisons to be made between templates. When an individual's identity needs to be verified, that person's eye is photographed and a template is created for the individual's iris. Through the use of algorithms, this template is compared with other templates in a database until either a matching template is found and the subject is identified, or no match is found and the subject remains unidentified.
Below are a few biometrics applications currently implemented or under development in various industries:
* Military: Security Access, Soldier Identification
* Airport Security: Quick Check-in, Passport Validation, Access Control
* Medicine: Hippa Enforcement; Patient Validation
* Banking: Cardless ATM, Payment Authorization, Security Access
* Construction: Keyless Entry; Job assignment
* Horseracing: Identification of Thoroughbred Horses
* Veterinary Medicine: Animal identification
* Ecommerce: Online Transaction Validation
* Automotive: Keyless Start and Theft Prevention
* Retail: Payment Authorization and Identity Validation (more)
* Education: Testing, Grade/Transcript Retrieval, Access Control
