American Creek Resources Ltd. - The Electrum Project is located 40 km north of Stewart, British Columbia in the prolific "Golden Triangle". The Electrum Mine - history - were discovered and originally staked and claimed in 1927 - then optioned to Cominco in 1929 - In the 1930's, the owners began underground development - to access the high-grade material Cominco had discovered - The project was named - The East Gold Mine - and intermittent, small-scale production started in 1939 - Over the next 26 years - the East Gold Mine - reported to BC Gov. it produced - appr. 45 tonnes of hand-cobbed ore rec. from smelter rep. grading - Gold 1,661 g/t (48.5 oz/ton) Au - and Silver 2,596 g/t (75.7 oz/ton) Ag - http://www.americancreek.com/photo/electrum.php http://www.americancreek.com/photo/electrum.php http://www.americancreek.com/projects/electrum.php Recorder’s Office Opened in 1903. Stewart in the early years. In 1903 a Deputy Mining Recorder’s office was opened, in charge of John Conway - "Man's triumph over some of the severest obstacles Nature has ever placed in the path of mineral discovery and mine development." HAULING MINE GEAR - Attracted by an oxidized capping - which still forms a bare ridge west of the main glory-hole - Claims Cascade Nos. 4 and 8 along with an adjoining group were taken over by 0. B. Bush, who organized the Salmon-Bear River Mining Co. - Crude ore shipped during 1919 and 1920 from Premier averaged 4.24 ounces Gold and 141 ounces Silver per ton - and milling began in 1921 at 200 tons per day. This was increased in 1926 to 400 tons and an average 430 tons per day was actually handled - Silbak Premier commenced mining the lower part of the high-grade sulphide lens during parts of 1960, 1961, and 1962. Production from this one lens amounted to roughly 2,736 tons of ore containing 18,595 ounces of Gold - 394,933 ounces of Silver - 16,258 pounds of Copper - 215,999 pounds of Lead - and 322,118 pounds of Zinc - POWERHOUSE AT PREMIER MINES Silbak Premier Mines Limited, as well as the Premier Border group purchased in 1958, produced about 4,700,000 tons of ore from the deposit with gross earnings about $30,000,000. Of this, approximately $22,000,000 was paid out in dividends - Since 1953, the Silbak Premier Mines Limited - glory-hole has produced another 26,000 tons of good ore. To facilitate development of the property, a road was built to Premier, a camp and powerhouse erected at Hog Lake, and a small hydro dam constructed at the west side of Long Lake to utilize the Divide Lake-Long Lake storage basin. As part of the mine development scheme, a 750-ton mill was built underground between the 2,100- and 2,300-footlevels, with tailings disposal and surface access on the Salmon Glacier side of the ridge. The present Granduc road now passes over the remains of the surface tramway built to provide transport on the west slope between the 2,300- and 2,800-footlevels. After initiating full production in early 1938 and producing about 850,000tons of Gold-Silver Ore, the property was abandoned in 1942 - EARLY HYDRO STATION FOR PREIMER MINES EMPIRE MINES CAMP FIRST MINERS IN AREA IT WASN'T EASY TO HAVE A BATH SOMETIMES CHICKAMIN CABIN BUILT BY EARLY PROSPECTOR ROADHOUSE WAS LOCATED AT FISH CREEK - GOING TO PREMIER MINES A 75-ton concentrator an aerial tram-line from the Dunwell mill-site were constructed in l9lO. A short spur-line from the Portland Canal Short Line Railway was laid to the concentrator and the wagon-road - to Stewart improved. Reverend Father LeRay traveled around the territory sometimes by aircraft. D. D. Mann, and the Portland Canal Short Line Railway was incorporated and 14 miles of road built up the Bear River Valley to Red Cliff.
