Chipotle makes its Mexico debut with first restaurant in Monterrey (CMG)

July 17 2026 6:19AM

Chipotle (NYSE:CMG) officially entered the Mexican market on Thursday, opening its first restaurant in the country as the U.S. fast-casual chain looks to establish itself in the birthplace of tacos.

First location opens in Monterrey

The company’s debut restaurant welcomed customers in San Pedro Garza Garcia, an affluent suburb of Monterrey in the northern state of Nuevo Leon. The municipality is widely regarded as the wealthiest in Latin America and serves as a major business centre.

The grand opening featured balloons, confetti and a ceremonial unveiling, attracting large crowds eager to sample Chipotle’s burrito bowls, wraps and salads. Many visitors stopped to take photographs while employees prepared meals behind the service counter.

Ricardo Aguilar, a 26-year-old customer attending the launch, said he first discovered the brand while travelling in the United States.

“It’s a different kind of offering,” he said. “It’s definitely not your street-corner taco stand.”

Expansion plans already underway

Chipotle’s Mexico director, Pablo de Brito, told Reuters the company plans to open between six and eight additional restaurants across Monterrey over the next 14 months before expanding into Mexico City and eventually other parts of the country.

“We’re more than happy with this opening,” he said, adding that Monterrey was selected because of its young population, strong business community and close ties with U.S. culture, making it an ideal location to introduce the brand.

Competing in one of the world’s largest taco markets

Chipotle’s arrival comes after two unsuccessful attempts by Taco Bell to establish itself in Mexico, with launches in 1992 and 2007 failing to win over consumers who preferred traditional Mexican food.

According to Mexico’s national statistics agency, INEGI, the country has more than 147,000 registered taquerias, while countless informal street vendors also sell tacos throughout the country.

Research conducted in 2021 by Baruch Sangines of the National Autonomous University of Mexico estimated there were around 1.6 million taco outlets nationwide. His study found that 95% of Mexico City’s residents lived within a five-minute walk of a taco shop, while approximately 75% of residents in the Monterrey metropolitan area enjoyed the same convenience.

Analysts see opportunity despite strong local competition

Sara Senatore, senior restaurants analyst at Bank of America, believes Chipotle’s partnership with restaurant operator Alsea provides the company with a strong platform for expansion.

“They’re the ones building the restaurants and they bear a lot of the risk,” she said, noting that Alsea’s involvement reflects confidence in the concept while the appeal of American brands often carries a certain cultural “mystique” in overseas markets.

Senatore also believes Chipotle’s menu offers enough variety to attract different consumer tastes, ranging from milder carnitas to its “pretty darn hot” salsa.

The topic of spice remains particularly important in Mexico, where some sauces have become milder in recent years amid changing consumer preferences linked to gentrification and the arrival of remote workers from the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chipotle rebounds after Minnesota clears restaurant chain in salmonella investigationAugust 5, 2026 10:04 AM
IH Market News Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) rose around 3.5% in pre-market trading on Wednesday after Minnesota health officials said they have no ongoing concerns about the company following a recent salmonella outbreak investigation. The rebound follows Tuesday’s 9.72% decline, the stock’s largest one-day fall in approximately nine months, as investors reacted to concerns over the foodborne illness investigation. Health officials say Chipotle no longer poses a concern In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 5, Chipotle disclosed that the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) had concluded it has no continuing concerns regarding the restaurant chain. Using its RFID-based ingredient traceability system, the company said it quickly identified the specific batch of contaminated jalapeños shortly after being notified by health authorities. Chipotle immediately removed the affected ingredients from the restaurants that had received them and replaced them with products sourced from different growers. The rapid response helped distinguish the incident from the company’s much larger food safety crisis several years ago. Investigation points to broader supply-chain issue According to Minnesota health officials, the outbreak appears to extend beyond Chipotle. Among 84 patients interviewed during the investigation, 75 reported eating at Chipotle between June 14 and July 14, initially making the chain the primary focus of the investigation. However, the MDH later stated that “the food that made people sick was served at other restaurants as well,” suggesting the source of contamination originated elsewhere within the supply chain. Senior MDH epidemiologist Carlota Medus added: “Given the measures Chipotle put in place, we are not concerned about Chipotle; but it is possible that the outbreak is ongoing if the contaminated food item is being served elsewhere.” The supplier responsible for the contaminated jalapeños and the identities of any other affected restaurant chains have not been publicly disclosed. RFID system helped speed the response Chipotle’s RFID ingredient tracking system, introduced nationally in 2023 after pilot testing began in 2022, enabled the company to isolate the affected shipment within hours. The technology was developed following the company’s high-profile food safety incidents between 2015 and 2018, which ultimately resulted in a $25 million criminal fine in 2020. The company’s rapid response also came ahead of updates from federal regulators, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration continuing its multi-state traceback investigation. Analysts remain cautious despite positive development Although the statement from Minnesota health officials has eased immediate concerns, some analysts believe uncertainty remains. Bernstein analyst Danilo Gargiulo told Reuters that “even if Chipotle has already reacted promptly and thus far we see no social media reactions to the news, we expect that the impact from the news could result in SSSG in 3Q decelerating below our expectation … if the situation does escalate.” His comments suggest that the outlook will depend largely on whether additional cases emerge beyond those already identified. FDA investigation remains the key catalyst Investors are now watching two developments that could determine the stock’s next move. The first is the FDA’s ongoing multi-state traceback investigation, which is expected to identify the source of the contaminated ingredients and clarify whether additional restaurant chains were affected. The second is the evolution of the outbreak itself. Minnesota has confirmed 110 cases of Salmonella Javiana, and any stabilization in infections could further improve investor confidence, while additional outbreaks in other states could renew pressure on the shares. Chipotle Raises Full-Year Sales Outlook After Quarterly Earnings BeatJuly 30, 2026 6:29 AM
IH Market News Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) reported second-quarter results that topped Wall Street expectations and lifted its full-year comparable sales forecast, supported by restaurant expansion and continued execution of its long-term growth strategy. The stronger-than-expected performance sent the company’s shares up 5.1% in premarket trading on Thursday. Revenue and Earnings Exceed Expectations The Newport Beach, California-based restaurant chain posted adjusted earnings of $0.33 per share on revenue of $3.35 billion for the second quarter of 2026. Analysts had been expecting earnings of $0.32 per share on revenue of $3.33 billion. Comparable restaurant sales increased 2.2% during the quarter, driven by a 1.2% rise in average customer spending and a 1.0% increase in transaction volumes. Chipotle also expanded its footprint by opening 100 new restaurants during the period. Digital Growth Supports Performance Online orders continued to account for a growing share of the business, with digital sales representing 38.3% of food and beverage revenue, up from 35.5% in the same quarter last year. At the same time, packaging expenses increased to 29.7% of total revenue from 28.9% a year earlier, reflecting higher beef and freight costs. Those pressures were partly offset by menu price increases, along with lower avocado and dairy costs. Wolfe Research analysts, led by Greg Badishkanian, noted that “Chipotle’s 2Q comps beat expectations with positive transactions, though mgmt. flagged late July softening.” Growth Strategy Continues to Gain Traction Chipotle, whose menu features burritos, burrito bowls, tacos and salads, has been rolling out its “Recipe for Growth” strategy throughout the year. The initiative includes menu innovation, greater use of artificial intelligence across the business and a refreshed rewards programme designed to strengthen customer engagement. “Our positive results reflect the momentum we’re building as our Recipe for Growth strategy continues to take shape,” chief executive Scott Boatwright said in a statement. “We’re seeing encouraging progress because we’re focused on the right growth drivers—bringing meaningful menu innovation to our guests, deepening engagement through Chipotle Rewards, elevating hospitality in every restaurant, and expanding opportunities to serve more group occasions,” he added. Fed Decision and Big Tech Earnings Dominate Market Attention: Dow Jones, S&P, Nasdaq, Wall Street FuturesJuly 30, 2026 5:11 AM
IH Market News U.S. stock futures edged higher on Thursday as investors weighed the Federal Reserve’s latest interest rate decision alongside a fresh wave of earnings from major technology companies. While the Fed left interest rates unchanged, a divided vote and persistent inflation concerns kept markets cautious. Investors also reacted to sharply different post-earnings performances from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), as both companies continued to ramp up spending on artificial intelligence. Futures Edge Higher After Volatile Session By 01:55 ET (05:55 GMT), Dow Jones futures were up 27 points, or 0.1%, while S&P 500 futures gained 15 points, or 0.2%. Nasdaq 100 futures outperformed, rising 133 points, or 0.5%. Wall Street closed lower on Wednesday as traders digested comments from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh following the central bank’s latest policy meeting. Chipmakers remained under pressure for another session. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 5.33%, extending its five-day decline to more than 14%, while the Nasdaq 100 officially entered correction territory after falling more than 10% from its recent peak. Investor enthusiasm for semiconductor stocks has weakened amid growing concerns over whether the massive investment in AI infrastructure, including chips and data centres, can generate sufficient long-term returns. Rising competition from Chinese technology companies has also weighed on sentiment. Those concerns intensified after Microsoft and Meta Platforms became the first of the major AI-focused technology giants to report quarterly results. Meanwhile, geopolitical risks remained firmly on investors’ radar after renewed U.S. military strikes inside Iran. Brent crude futures climbed a further 1.4% to $92.01 per barrel after surging roughly 7% during the previous session. Federal Reserve Leaves Rates Unchanged The Federal Reserve kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at a range of 3.5% to 3.75% following its two-day policy meeting, although three policymakers voted in favour of raising rates. Inflation remained the central issue facing policymakers. Price pressures continue to run well above the Fed’s 2% target, largely due to higher energy costs linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Although June inflation data came in below expectations, oil prices have remained highly volatile throughout July, reflecting continued uncertainty surrounding developments in the Middle East. Higher interest rates could help reduce inflationary pressures, but policymakers also risk weakening a labour market already characterised by subdued hiring and relatively low levels of layoffs. Kevin Warsh, who chaired only his second policy meeting since taking over as Federal Reserve Chair, emphasised that the decision to leave rates unchanged should not be interpreted as a reluctance to act if necessary. “There was nothing inertial about our discussions,” Warsh said. Asked whether further rate increases could help curb inflation, Warsh replied that higher rates remained an available tool but added, “I wouldn’t say it’s in isolation.” He also noted that the rise in longer-term Treasury yields since the June meeting may already be contributing to tighter financial conditions. Long-dated U.S. Treasury yields moved higher as investors searched Warsh’s comments for clues about future policy decisions. Bond yields typically move inversely to prices. “[T]he vague and arguably counterproductive communications from […] Warsh during the press conference make forecasting the Fed’s next move even trickier than it already was,” said Thomas Ryan, Senior North America Economist at Capital Economics, in a note. Microsoft Impresses With Cloud and AI Growth Microsoft delivered another strong quarterly performance, driven by continued momentum in its cloud computing business and growing demand for its AI products. Revenue for the quarter ended in June increased 18% to $90 billion, while net income climbed 31% to $35.8 billion, comfortably exceeding analyst expectations. Chief Executive Satya Nadella also revealed that annual revenue from Microsoft’s AI-powered Azure cloud platform exceeded $100 billion for the first time. Microsoft typically does not disclose Azure’s standalone revenue, making the announcement particularly significant given investor comparisons with Google’s cloud business, which recently projected annual cloud revenue approaching the same milestone. The company showed no indication that it intends to slow investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Capital expenditure reached $41 billion during the June quarter, up nearly 70% from a year earlier, bringing total annual spending to $145.3 billion. Investors appeared encouraged by Azure’s continued growth despite the heavy investment programme, sending Microsoft shares more than 7% higher in after-hours trading. Meta Slides Despite Record Revenue Meta Platforms moved sharply lower after reporting quarterly results, with shares falling more than 7% in extended trading despite posting record second-quarter revenue of $60.8 billion. Investor attention centred on the company’s higher spending plans. Meta increased its expected capital expenditure for the year to at least $130 billion from a previous forecast of $125 billion, while leaving the upper end of its guidance unchanged at $145 billion. Management was expected to address investor concerns over AI investment and monetisation during its earnings call, but the immediate market reaction suggested those concerns remained unresolved. The company also reported free cash flow of less than $1 billion, while quarterly profit declined 14% to $18.3 billion. Meta’s revenue guidance for the current quarter also fell short of analyst expectations, and the company warned that ongoing legal cases related to the impact of social media on young users could result in significant financial losses. Attention now turns to Apple and Amazon, with both technology giants scheduled to report earnings later on Thursday. Qualcomm, Starbucks and Chipotle Also Report Outside the largest technology companies, Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) shares declined in after-hours trading after the chipmaker issued weaker-than-expected guidance for the current quarter. The company also indicated it plans to increase product prices to offset rising manufacturing and memory costs. Chief Executive Cristiano Amon said the semiconductor industry continues to face higher production expenses and supply chain constraints linked to growing demand for AI data centres. Qualcomm reported adjusted third-quarter earnings per share of $2.21, slightly below FactSet estimates. Revenue declined 4% to $9.95 billion but still exceeded analyst forecasts. Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) reported quarterly results ahead of expectations, supported by improving customer traffic in North America and continued progress under its turnaround strategy. Its shares gained around 4% in extended trading. Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) also delivered better-than-expected quarterly earnings and revenue, helped by restaurant expansion and branding initiatives. The company raised its full-year comparable sales outlook, sending its shares higher after the closing bell. RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURESBelow are definitions of the non-GAAP financial measures in this release. The following tables provide a reconciliation of non-GAAP financial measures presented in this release to the most directly comparable financial measures calculated and presented in accordance with GAAP.Adjusted net income is net income excluding restaurant asset impairment, corporate asset impairment and gains, restructuring expenses, certain legal proceedings, stock-based compensation retention and loss on investments.Adjusted diluted earnings per share is calculated by dividing adjusted net income by the diluted weighted-average number of common shares outstanding.Adjusted general and administrative expenses are general and administrative expenses excluding expenses related to restructuring, certain legal proceedings and stock-based compensation retention. The adjusted effective income tax rate is the effective income tax rate adjusted to reflect the after-tax impact of non-GAAP adjustments.Restaurant level operating margin is equal to the revenues generated by our restaurants less direct restaurant operating costs, which consist of food, beverage and packaging, labor, occupancy and other operating costs, expressed as a percent of total revenue. This performance measure primarily includes the costs that restaurant level managers can directly control and excludes other costs that are essential to conduct our business. Management uses restaurant level operating margin as a measure of restaurant performance. Management believes restaurant level operating margin is useful because it highlights trends in our core business that may not otherwise be apparent when relying solely on GAAP financial measures. We present these non-GAAP measures to facilitate a meaningful evaluation of our operating performance across periods. These adjustments are intended to provide greater transparency of underlying performance and to allow investors to evaluate our business on the same basis as management, which uses these non-GAAP measures in evaluating our performance. Our adjusted net income, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted general and administrative expenses, adjusted effective income tax rate, and restaurant level operating margin measures may not be comparable to other companies' adjusted measures. These adjustments are not necessarily indicative of what our actual financial performance would have been during the periods presented and should be viewed in addition to, and not as an alternative to, our results prepared in accordance with GAAP. Further details regarding these adjustments are included in the tables below. CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL, INC.RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURESAdjusted Net Income and Adjusted Diluted Earnings per Share(in thousands, except per share amounts)(unaudited)

Chipotle makes its Mexico debut with first restaurant in Monterrey (CMG)July 17, 2026 6:19 AM
IH Market News Chipotle (NYSE:CMG) officially entered the Mexican market on Thursday, opening its first restaurant in the country as the U.S. fast-casual chain looks to establish itself in the birthplace of tacos. First location opens in Monterrey The company’s debut restaurant welcomed customers in San Pedro Garza Garcia, an affluent suburb of Monterrey in the northern state of Nuevo Leon. “It’s definitely not your street-corner taco stand.” Expansion plans already underway Chipotle’s Mexico director, Pablo de Brito, told Reuters the company plans to open between six and eight additional restaurants across Monterrey over the next 14 months before expanding into Mexico City and eventually other parts of the country. “We’re more than happy with this opening,” he said, adding that Monterrey was selected because of its young population, strong business community and close ties with U.S. culture, making it an ideal location to introduce the brand. Competing in one of the world’s largest taco markets Chipotle’s arrival comes after two unsuccessful attempts by Taco Bell to establish itself in Mexico, with launches in 1992 and 2007 failing to win over consumers who preferred traditional Mexican food. Analysts see opportunity despite strong local competition Sara Senatore, senior restaurants analyst at Bank of America, believes Chipotle’s partnership with restaurant operator Alsea provides the company with a strong platform for expansion. Chipotle Opens First Restaurant in Mexico as Global Expansion Continues (CMG)July 14, 2026 9:30 AM
IH Market News Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) is preparing to open its first restaurant in Mexico this week, marking a major milestone in the company’s international growth strategy as it enters the country that inspired much of its menu. The restaurant chain, which operates more than 4,100 locations worldwide, described the launch as a significant step in its global expansion plans. Chipotle Makes Long-Awaited Entry Into Mexico The new restaurant is located in the northeastern state of Nuevo León, close to the U.S. border with Texas, and will serve as a pilot location to assess customer demand. According to Chipotle, the opening represents an “important proof-of-concept” as it evaluates future opportunities in the Mexican market. The company intends to expand further within Nuevo León before entering Mexico City in 2027 through its partnership with restaurant operator Alsea, which also manages brands including Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks and Chili’s across Latin America. CEO Highlights Respect for Mexican Cuisine Chipotle Chief Executive Scott Boatwright said the company is approaching the expansion with appreciation for the country’s rich culinary traditions. “We are entering Mexico with deep respect for the country’s culinary heritage and a commitment to delivering the Chipotle experience with excellence. “We look forward to serving new guests and earning a place in Mexico’s vibrant dining culture.” Social Media Reacts With Curiosity and Skepticism The announcement sparked widespread discussion online, with reactions ranging from curiosity to humour. Some users questioned whether a U.S. interpretation of Mexican cuisine could succeed in a market renowned for its authentic food. One commenter on X wrote, “Bold move selling Mexico a corporate version of Mexico.” Another user asked why consumers would choose Chipotle when they already have “perfectly fine and healthy food available to them?” Others compared the expansion to well-known examples of international restaurant brands entering their countries of origin. “It’s like Pizza Hut [opening a] location in Napoli, makes no sense,” one post said. Another joked, “Next up, Panda Express opening its first mainland China location.” While some users expressed doubts, others suggested the restaurant could appeal to tourists or become a useful test of Chipotle’s broader international ambitions. International Expansion Remains a Key Priority Chipotle plans to open as many as 370 new restaurants globally this year, including additional locations in Singapore and South Korea. The Mexico launch will be closely watched following the mixed experiences of other U.S. restaurant chains that attempted to expand into markets where their cuisine originated. Taco Bell, for example, unsuccessfully entered Mexico on two occasions before exiting the country in 2010. Similarly, Domino’s Pizza closed its remaining Italian restaurants in 2022 after struggling to compete with established local pizzerias following several years in the market. Whether Chipotle can establish a lasting presence in Mexico is likely to provide valuable insight into the strength of its international growth strategy. "We are excited to welcome a new Chief Brand Officer and a new Chief Digital Officer to further strengthen our value proposition, sharpen our brand messaging, and accelerate innovation—positioning Chipotle for sustained, long-term growth as we advance on our path to becoming a global iconic brand."Results for the three months ended March 31, 2026: Total revenue in the first quarter of 2026 was $3.1 billion, an increase of 7.4% compared to the first quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by new restaurant openings and, to a lesser extent, a 0.5% increase in comparable restaurant sales due to higher transactions of 0.6%, partially offset by a 0.1% decrease in average check. Digital sales represented 38.6% of total food and beverage revenue.During the first quarter we opened 49 company-owned restaurants, of which 42 included a Chipotlane. Chipotlanes continue to perform well and are helping enhance guest access and convenience, as well as increase new restaurant sales, margins and returns.Food, beverage and packaging costs in the first quarter of 2026 were 29.6% of total revenue, an increase from 29.2% in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by inflation, primarily in beef and freight, and higher produce usage. These increases were partially offset by lower dairy and avocado costs, and the benefit of menu price increases.Labor costs in the first quarter of 2026 were 26.1% of total revenue, an increase from 25.0% in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was primarily driven by wage inflation, lower average restaurant sales volumes, and higher benefits expense, including performance-based bonuses. These headwinds were partially offset by the benefit of menu price increases. Excluding a 40 basis point impact from costs related to certain legal proceedings, adjusted labor costs1 were 25.7% of total revenue, compared to 25.0% in the first quarter of 2025.1Adjusted restaurant level operating margin, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted labor costs, adjusted net income, adjusted general and administrative expenses, and non-GAAP effective income tax rate are non-GAAP financial measures. Reconciliations to GAAP measures and further information are set forth in the table at the end of this press release. General and administrative expenses for the first quarter of 2026 were $203.7 million, compared to $172.8 million in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by our biennial All Managers Conference held in the first quarter of 2026, performance bonuses and wages, and benefited from lower stock-based compensation. Adjusted general and administrative expenses1 for the first quarter of 2026 were $197.9 million, compared to $160.9 million in the first quarter of 2025.The effective income tax rate for the first quarter of 2026 was 25.4%, an increase from 22.9% in the first quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by a reduction in tax benefits related to option exercises and equity vesting, fewer tax credits, and an increase in other discrete income tax items.Net income for the first quarter of 2026 was $302.8 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, compared to $386.6 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2025. Adjusted net income1 for the first quarter of 2026 was $316.2 million, or $0.24 per adjusted diluted share, compared to $396.8 million, or $0.29 per adjusted diluted share, in the first quarter of 2025.During the first quarter of 2026 we repurchased $700.8 million of stock at an average price per share of $36.14. As of March 31, 2026, $1.0 billion remained available under share repurchase authorizations from our Board of Directors. The repurchase authorization may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time.More information will be available in our Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, which will be filed with the SEC in April 2026.OutlookFor 2026, management is anticipating the following:Full year comparable restaurant sales to be about flat350 to 370 new restaurant openings, which includes 10 to 15 international partner-operated restaurants. RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURESBelow are definitions of the non-GAAP financial measures in this release. The following tables provide a reconciliation of non-GAAP financial measures presented in this release to the most directly comparable financial measures calculated and presented in accordance with GAAP.Adjusted net income is net income excluding certain legal proceedings, restructuring expenses and stock-based compensation retention.Adjusted labor is labor expense excluding expenses related to certain legal proceedings.Adjusted general and administrative expense is general and administrative expense excluding expenses related to restructuring, certain legal proceedings, and stock-based compensation retention. Management believes restaurant level operating margin is useful because it highlights trends in our core business that may not otherwise be apparent when relying solely on GAAP financial measures.Adjusted restaurant level operating margin is equal to the restaurant level operating margin excluding certain legal proceedings, expressed as a percent of total revenue. Management uses adjusted restaurant level operating margin as a measure of restaurant performance. Management believes adjusted restaurant level operating margin is useful because it highlights trends in our core business that may not otherwise be apparent when relying solely on GAAP financial measures. Our adjusted net income, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted labor expenses, adjusted general and administrative expenses, adjusted effective income tax rate, restaurant level operating margin, and adjusted restaurant level operating margin measures may not be comparable to other companies' adjusted measures.

CHIPOTLE KICKS OFF THE SUMMER SEASON WITH THE RETURN OF HIGHLY POPULAR CHIPOTLE HONEY CHICKENApril 21, 2026 7:53 AM
PR Newswire (US)

After debuting in 2025, Chipotle Honey Chicken became Chipotle's best-selling limited-time offeringAll guests in North America and Europe can order the protein starting April 28Chipotle Honey Chicken is available in Chipotle's High Protein Cup for the first timeNEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced the return of Chipotle Honey Chicken, which debuted in 2025 as the brand's best-performing limited-time offering and quickly became a fan favorite, driving record demand. The protein will be available in restaurants across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Germany beginning April 28.

Made with freshly grilled chicken, marinated with smoky chipotle peppers and finished with a touch of pure honey, Chipotle Honey Chicken delivers a bold, balanced flavor that hits heat first, then sweet—a craveable combination that captures the energy of early summer in every bite. For photo and video assets of Chipotle Honey Chicken, see here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/komd3e32kfoeofo2ady2u/ANCelcZ74_ob-hw9euZjul8?rlkey=wdo1ovz5g5qsjm8vgstbdp0x1&st=mzmvadx8&dl=0A Flavor Trend Meets the Moment
Chipotle Honey Chicken sits at the center of one of the fastest-growing flavor trends in food: "swicy." Sweet meets spicy. Heat meets honey. It's everywhere, from social feeds to restaurant menus. But Chipotle's take stands apart—bringing this bold flavor to life with real ingredients, freshly prepared and made without artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. At its core are two signature ingredients—chipotle peppers and a touch of pure honey—creating a smoky, subtly sweet flavor that is distinctly Chipotle. When it launched in 2025, the protein delivered the highest order rates of any limited-time offering in Chipotle's history."Chipotle Honey Chicken set a new standard for our limited-time offerings, and guests started asking for it back almost immediately," said Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer. "It's proof that when we get flavor and timing right, we create something fans can't stop thinking about."A New Way to Experience Chipotle Honey Chicken
For the first time, guests can enjoy Chipotle Honey Chicken in Chipotle's High Protein Cup, offering a new, protein-forward way to customize their order. Its return also continues Chipotle's momentum in menu innovation, following the recent return of Chicken al Pastor and introduction of Cilantro Lime Sauce earlier this year, and signals a broader push to bring more craveable, culturally relevant flavors to the menu in 2026.For guests trying Chipotle Honey Chicken for the first time, Nevielle Panthaky, Senior Vice President of Culinary at Chipotle, recommends ordering a Chipotle Honey Chicken bowl with white rice, black beans, light roasted chili-corn salsa and guac.Turning Up the Heat with a $0 Delivery Fee
To celebrate the return, Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee1 on Chipotle Honey Chicken orders placed through the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com and Chipotle.ca from April 28 through May 11.1 – Higher menu prices are charged for delivery; additional service and other fees are applied at checkout as well (except in CA, CO, MA, MN and VA). Available April 28 through May 11 only, within Chipotle's delivery areas from participating U.S. and Canada locations, during normal operating hours for such locations. Purchase of Chipotle Honey Chicken entrée required. Minimum order $10 USD / $12 CAD excluding tax and fees; maximum item numbers apply as well. Deliveries and redemptions are subject to availability. Offer is not valid on catering or Burritos by the Box orders. Redemptions of Chipotle Rewards and other promotional offers may be included in a qualifying delivery order but do not count towards minimum purchase requirements. Valid only on Chipotle website or the Chipotle app; not valid on orders placed via third-party delivery platforms. CHIPOTLE RELAUNCHES REWARDS WITH "REWARDS ON REPEAT," DELIVERING MORE VALUE WITHOUT TRADE-OFFSApril 13, 2026 7:53 AM
PR Newswire (US)

With 21 million active members driving a significant portion of the company's sales, Chipotle enters its next phase of digital growthNew benefits include monthly free food drops, expanded redemption options and extended points expirationA new in-restaurant campaign and crew incentives are designed to drive real-time enrollment and engagementNEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced the next evolution of Chipotle Rewards alongside a fully redesigned in-app experience, now available in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec). Anchored in a new platform, "Rewards on Repeat," the relaunch is designed to deliver more frequent rewards, greater flexibility and deeper everyday engagement for members.

As loyalty programs become increasingly central to restaurant competition and consumer decision-making, Chipotle is entering its next phase of digital growth with a scaled platform and significant room to expand, particularly as younger diners choose where to eat based on rewards. Recent reporting shows nearly half of all restaurant loyalty program signups in 2024 came from Gen Z, marking the first time the generation surpassed millennials as the most active demographic in loyalty enrollments.¹ Additionally, one in four diners say they would switch to a less-preferred restaurant for better loyalty perks, underscoring the competitive stakes.¹Unlike many recent loyalty program updates across the industry, Chipotle's relaunch is fully additive, introducing new benefits and improving existing ones.Rewards on Repeat for All Members
Chipotle's enhanced program is designed to deliver greater value, added flexibility and more ways to engage – while preserving the features members already know and love.Highlights include:Extra Value from Day OneBeginning April 13, new members will receive free Chips and Guac with a purchase after joining2, delivering immediate rewards at sign-up.Monthly Free Food Drops ReturnChipotle will reintroduce Freepotle, its recurring free food promotion, and commit to monthly free bonus Reward drops3, to deliver even more value for members who engage throughout the year and faster rewards without prior purchase for those just getting started.Choose Your Own Birthday RewardMembers can now select their preferred birthday reward with a 30-day redemption window that gives guests more flexibility to celebrate on their own schedule. Options include guac, queso, chips or a fountain drink.Expanded Redemption OptionsThe refreshed Rewards Exchange introduces lower point thresholds and new offers, including 50% off an entrée, Build Your Own options for groups and bundled meal rewards, giving members more flexibility to choose the rewards they want.Always-On Extras and GamificationExtras will evolve, offering an always-on experience with interactive challenges that unlock more points and drive incremental visits.Points Don't Expire with a Qualifying Purchase Per YearPoints remain active with just one qualifying purchase per year, extending the previous six-month window and giving members more time and flexibility to redeem rewards.Chipotle Rewards Redesign
Alongside these program enhancements, Chipotle is launching a fully redesigned Rewards experience within its app. The updated interface centralizes all Rewards content into a single, easy-to-navigate destination, improving visibility into points balances, redemption progress, challenges and offers. The redesign also introduces an enhanced points tracker and elevates gamification features, creating a more intuitive and engaging experience while enabling Chipotle to deliver more personalized interactions at scale.Rewards for In-Restaurant Guests
While nearly 90% of digital transactions are linked to Rewards, only about 20% of in-restaurant transactions are, representing a significant opportunity for growth. To close this gap, Chipotle is launching a comprehensive in-restaurant acquisition campaign alongside the relaunch. The effort includes prominent in-store placements such as menu panels, table tents, cups, receipts and cashwrap messaging to capture guest attention at key moments throughout the visit.Crew members will play a critical role in driving enrollment through a system-wide incentive program tied to new member sign-ups, supported by internal communications and training to reinforce Rewards education at the point of interaction.Together, these efforts turn every restaurant visit into an opportunity to enroll and engage with Chipotle Rewards."Our Rewards platform now drives a significant portion of our sales and connects us with more than 21 million active members," said Curt Garner, President, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer. "With 'Rewards on Repeat,' we're delivering more rewards to all members, more often, and enhancing existing benefits. This relaunch reflects what our guests want most: immediate value, personalization and a seamless experience whether they're dining in our restaurants or ordering through the app."For more information or to join Chipotle Rewards, visit Chipotle.com or download the Chipotle app. Chipotle Rewards is subject to the Chipotle Rewards Terms and Conditions, available at https://www.chipotle.com/rewards-terms.1 – Business Insider, "Gen Z Leads Restaurant Loyalty Signups, Reshaping Rewards Programs," February 16, 2026.2 – New members receive one free order of chips and guacamole with a purchase of $5.00 or more, excluding tax and tip. One-time use only. Expires if not used within 7 days after it has been added to a participant's account. Valid for orders placed and fulfilled in-restaurant at participating Chipotle restaurants in the United States and Canada, and when ordering via the Chipotle mobile app or online. Redemption is subject to availability at the time of redemption. May not be combined with other coupons, promotions, or special offers. A digital Reward coupon associated with a valid Chipotle Rewards account will be required to redeem. Not valid on catering, Burritos by the Box, or orders via third party delivery platforms. Additional limitations may apply; void where prohibited.3 – $5 minimum purchase required to redeem.About Chipotle

CHIPOTLE LAUNCHES FRESH CILANTRO LIME SAUCE FOR A LIMITED TIME AMID AMERICA'S SAUCE OBSESSIONMarch 18, 2026 7:53 AM
PR Newswire (US)

Fresh cilantro, lime and roasted jalapeños come together in a creamy new sauce made fresh dailyCilantro Lime Sauce is Chipotle's highest-performing sauce in company test markets to dateThe sauce's recipe was created by Culinary Analyst Danny Boyzo, who started as a Chipotle crew member in 2019Chipotle Rewards members can receive a free side or topping of Cilantro Lime Sauce with the purchase of an entrée using the code "SOFRESH" on launch day, Thursday, March 191NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced the launch of a new Cilantro Lime Sauce, a vibrant, made-fresh-daily sauce designed to elevate any Chipotle order.

Featuring hand-chopped cilantro, lime, Mexican spices, sour cream and roasted jalapeños, the creamy sauce adds bright, herb-forward flavor with balanced citrus and a subtle kick. Like all Chipotle ingredients, it contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. The sauce arrives in restaurants across the U.S. and Canada beginning Thursday, March 19, for a limited time. For photo and video assets of Cilantro Lime Sauce, see here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/k91hmfzdwyzmy0eheitwp/AKgfwVfHREbzl3y7O3yhUBg?rlkey=hyhuvlsgkxh753qt8f4fo42kd&st=eqbc2qwk&dl=0"A flavorful sauce made fresh daily in our restaurants can completely change the way guests experience our real food," said Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer. "Cilantro Lime Sauce delivers a whole new level of freshness using real ingredients and complements every entrée and protein on our menu."America's Passion for Sauce
The launch taps into America's growing obsession with sauce. Sixty percent of consumers, especially Millennials and Gen Z, say they look forward to a signature sauce, condiment or dressing when dining out, reflecting a shift toward personalization and flavor-driven discovery.2 Cilantro lime is a rising flavor profile with sustained menu growth and strong projected momentum in the years ahead.2 As diners increasingly seek customizable, flavor-forward options, sauces continue to drive engagement and discovery.3Innovation From Within
Cilantro Lime Sauce also marks a first for the brand during Senior Vice President of Culinary Nevielle Panthaky's tenure, which began in 2018: it was developed by a culinary team member who started their career in a Chipotle restaurant.Culinary Analyst Danny Boyzo started in restaurant operations in 2019, gaining firsthand experience on the line and developing a deep understanding of the pace, precision and execution required in a Chipotle kitchen. She pursued formal culinary training while continuing to grow within the company, ultimately transitioning into a role focused on menu development at Chipotle's Newport Beach, Calif., Restaurant Support Center."There's something special about developing a menu item when you've spent years working behind the line," said Boyzo. "You understand how much intention goes into every ingredient and how small details in our kitchens shape the final result. Bringing that perspective into creating a sauce and seeing it served nationwide feels like a true full-circle moment."Nevielle Panthaky, Senior Vice President of Culinary at Chipotle, added: "Team members who understand our kitchens firsthand bring invaluable perspective to product innovation and development. Danny's work is a powerful example of how investing in our people can enhance our menu pipeline."Panthaky recommends trying Cilantro Lime Sauce with the following:Steak salad with light brown rice, light black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, guac and Cilantro Lime Sauce on the side (34g protein, 17g fiber)Chicken al Pastor burrito with white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, guac, lettuce and Cilantro Lime Sauce (49g protein, 22g fiber)Free Cilantro Lime Sauce for Chipotle Rewards Members
To celebrate the sauce's debut, Chipotle Rewards members can receive a free side or topping of Cilantro Lime Sauce with the purchase of an entrée on Thursday, March 19, by using the code "SOFRESH" on the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com or Chipotle.ca.1Rave Reviews in Test Markets
Developed through Chipotle's stage-gate process, Cilantro Lime Sauce emerged as the brand's top-performing sauce in testing over the past year. In the Los Angeles test, it generated nearly two to three times the order rate of previously tested and launched sauces, building on the strong performance of recent topping innovations.1 - Valid only on 3/19/26. Chipotle Rewards members receive a free topping or side of Cilantro Lime Sauce with the purchase of one regular-priced entrée. Must use code "SOFRESH." One-time use per order. Valid during regular business hours from participating locations in the United States and Canada, when ordering via the Chipotle mobile app or on the Chipotle website. Redemption is subject to availability. May not be combined with other coupons, promotions, or special offers. Not valid on kids' meals, catering, Burritos by the Box, Build Your Own Chipotle, or orders via third-party delivery platforms. "Regular menu entrée item" means a burrito, burrito bowl, single order of three (3) tacos, quesadilla or a salad. Void where prohibited. Additional restrictions may apply.

On Friday, March 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. local time, Chipotle will offer a "flash" one-hour BUY-ONE-GET-ONE (BOGO) offer1 for fans who are "tatted like a Chipotle bag" The promotion is inspired by the Friday the 13th "flash tattoo" tradition, when tattoo shops drop "flash sheets" of small, pre-designed tattoos to commemorate the dayChipotle tapped American hip-hop superstar Swae Lee to co-create an exclusive, limited-edition temporary tattoo flash sheet, available only at one Miami restaurant on Friday the 13th2NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced it will celebrate its tatted superfans with a "flash" one-hour BOGO offer on Friday, March 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. local time in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Germany.¹

The promotion draws inspiration from popular memes about people being "tatted like a Chipotle bag" (see HERE and HERE). Chipotle is inviting fans to show up in-restaurant during the one-hour "flash" window with any tattoo—whether it's permanent ink, a temporary tattoo, or a drawn-on design—to unlock the BOGO."What started as an internet meme became a real-world expression of fandom for our brand," said Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer. "Bringing this promotion back for Friday the 13th further establishes our connection with the tattoo community, and partnering with Swae Lee allows us to spotlight his authentic passion for the brand and give our fans something extra to commemorate the moment together."Introducing the Swae Lee x Chipotle Flash Tattoo Sheet
To level up the celebration, Chipotle is partnering with tatted Chipotle superfan and multi-platinum-selling hip-hop superstar Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd to co-create an exclusive temporary tattoo flash sheet inspired by the bold, passionate rambling artwork fans know from Chipotle's takeout bags. Guests can score the Swae Lee x Chipotle designs exclusively at the Midtown Miami restaurant (3201 N. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33127) on Friday, March 13, from 3 to 4 p.m. ET, while supplies last.2  The Chipotle tattoos are available in Miami – home to Swae Lee and considered one of America's most tattooed cities."'Tatted like a Chipotle bag' is really about self-expression," said Swae Lee. "It was cool to bring it into the real world and create designs that actually feel like me."The partnership follows the release of Swae Lee's "FLAMMABLE"–the first single off his long-awaited debut solo LP, SAME DIFFERENCE, out April 3. The new project marks a bold new era for one of hip-hop's most innovative artists. Gen Z is obsessed with all things nostalgia, driving a flurry of "2026 is the new 2016" social media content since January to reminisce about their favorite viral moments from 10 years ago. Chipotle and Swae are tapping into this 2016 trend by turning back the clock with nostalgic content featuring one of the artist's most viral anthems from the era. Fans can tune into Chipotle's Instagram @Chipotle on Wednesday, March 11 for the reveal.Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag Origin Story
The phrase "tatted like a Chipotle bag" gained traction during the 2019 professional football championship halftime performance when fans on social media compared the headline performer's tattoos to the artwork on Chipotle's to-go bags (see HERE). Since then, the viral moment has inspired fun, original content across various platforms, with some fans literally wearing their Chipotle love on their sleeves (see HERE). On June 13, 2025, the first Chipotle tattoo BOGO promotion drove Chipotle's highest-ever sales during the 3 to 4 p.m. non-peak hour. 1 – The BUY-ONE-GET-ONE (BOGO) promotion is limited to five free menu items per check and is subject to availability. Each free item requires purchase of an entrée item of equal or greater value and may be collected only by a tattoo-wearing customer. A tattoo can mean a real tattoo, a temporary tattoo, a drawn-on tattoo, or another creative iteration invoking tattoos, as determined at the sole discretion of restaurant staff. Valid only on March 13, 2026, from 3 to 4 p.m. local time. Redeemable in-restaurant only, at participating Chipotle locations in the U.S., Canada, U.K., France and Germany; not valid for catering, mobile, online or delivery orders. Kids' meals do not count as an entrée purchase. Purchased entrées are eligible for Chipotle Rewards points; the promotion may not otherwise be combined with other coupons, promotions, or special offers. Additional restrictions may apply; void where prohibited.  Chipotle reserves the right to modify or terminate this offer at any time without notice.2 – Purchase required; purchasers will receive 1 flash tattoo sheet per transaction beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET and continuing while supplies last.  Available only on in-restaurant purchases from the Chipotle location at 3201 N. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33127. Additional restrictions may apply.About Chipotle

Chipotle Shares Slide After Company Signals Flat Comparable Sales in 2026February 4, 2026 6:22 AM
IH Market News
Shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (NYSE:CMG) fell sharply in U.S. premarket trading on Wednesday after the restaurant group delivered better-than-expected quarterly results but issued a cautious outlook for 2026, projecting flat comparable sales that fell short of Wall Street forecasts. The burrito chain reported fourth-quarter earnings of $0.25 per share, beating analysts’ estimates by one cent. Revenue increased 4.9% from a year earlier to $3 billion, coming in ahead of the $2.96 billion consensus.Comparable restaurant sales declined 2.5% during the quarter, a smaller drop than the roughly 3% decline expected by the market. Still, the outlook dampened investor sentiment.“Chipotle’s 4Q comps came just above consensus, but were negative and while commentary on 1Q suggested an improvement in trends pre-winter storm, the full quarter is still expected to be down -1-2%,” Wolfe Research analyst Travis Harbauer said in a note.Looking ahead, Chipotle said it expects full-year comparable sales in 2026 to be roughly flat, compared with analysts’ expectations for around 1.9% growth, citing ongoing caution among consumers when it comes to discretionary spending.Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Harbour said the guidance appears to leave out any “significant uplift from the sales layers CMG is aiming to add,” while also reflecting the broader slowdown in sales momentum seen through 2025 and the more challenging comparisons the company faces going forward. He added that Chipotle remains “a show-me story [in the] near term.”On expansion plans, management said the company expects to open between 350 and 370 new restaurants in 2026, including 10 to 15 locations operated by international partners. Around 80% of company-owned restaurants are projected to feature a Chipotlane, the brand’s drive-through format designed to support digital and pickup orders.Chipotle also guided to an underlying effective tax rate of 24% to 26% for the full year, excluding discrete items. While revenue growth topped expectations—rising 4.9% versus analysts’ forecasts for a 4.2% increase—the results come at a time when diners have been pulling back on eating out amid broader economic uncertainty, weighing on near-term growth expectations.Chipotle Mexican Grill stock price

Against a dynamic consumer backdrop, we opened a record number of restaurants globally and grew Q4 and full year revenue," said Scott Boatwright, Chief Executive Officer, Chipotle. "This momentum will fuel our next phase of growth, driven by our 'Recipe for Growth' strategy which leans into what uniquely differentiates our brand to accelerate transactions and expand our footprint globally."Results for the three months ended December 31, 2025: Total revenue in the fourth quarter of 2025 was $3.0 billion, an increase of 4.9% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. The increase in total revenue was driven by new restaurant openings and gift card breakage revenue of $27.0 million, which represented a $19.1 million increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. Gift card breakage revenue does not impact comparable restaurant sales. These increases were partially offset by a 2.5% decrease in comparable restaurant sales due to lower transactions of 3.2%, partially offset by a 0.7% increase in average check. Digital sales represented 37.2% of total food and beverage revenue.During the fourth quarter we opened 132 company-owned restaurants, of which 97 included a Chipotlane, and seven international partner-operated restaurants. Chipotlanes continue to perform well and are helping enhance guest access and convenience, as well as increase new restaurant sales, margins and returns.Food, beverage and packaging costs in the fourth quarter of 2025 were 30.2% of total revenue, a decrease from 30.4% in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease was primarily due to the benefit of menu price increases, lower dairy costs, and cost of sales efficiencies. These decreases were partially offset by inflation, primarily in beef and chicken, and the impact from tariffs enacted in 2025.Labor costs in the fourth quarter of 2025 were 25.5% of total revenue, an increase from 25.2% in the fourth quarter of 2024. The increase was primarily due to lower sales volumes and wage inflation, partially offset by the benefit from menu price increases and higher bonuses in the prior year.General and administrative expenses for the fourth quarter of 2025 were $160.3 million, compared to $191.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease was primarily due to lower stock-based compensation, performance bonuses and legal reserves. On a non-GAAP basis, general and administrative expenses1 for the fourth quarter of 2025 were $162.1 million, compared to $174.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.The effective income tax rate for the fourth quarter of 2025 was 23.7%, a decrease from 24.4% in the fourth quarter of 2024. The decrease was primarily driven by increases in U.S. federal income tax credits.Net income for the fourth quarter of 2025 was $330.9 million, or $0.25 per diluted share, compared to $331.8 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2024. Adjusted net income1 for the fourth quarter of 2025 was $331.3 million, or $0.25 per adjusted diluted share, compared to $340.0 million, or $0.25 per adjusted diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2024.During the fourth quarter of 2025 we repurchased $741.6 million of stock at an average price per share of $34.14. As of December 31, 2025, $1.7 billion remained available under share repurchase authorizations from our Board of Directors. The repurchase authorization may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time. Results for the full year ended December 31, 2025: Total revenue for 2025 was $11.9 billion, an increase of 5.4% compared to 2024. The increase in total revenue was primarily driven by new restaurant openings. The increase was partially offset by a 1.7% decrease in comparable restaurant sales due to lower transactions of 2.9%, partially offset by a 1.2% increase in average check. Digital sales represented 36.7% of total food and beverage revenue. As of December 31, 2025, there were a total of 4,056 Chipotle restaurants including 14 international partner-operated restaurants. During 2025, we opened 334 company-owned restaurants, of which 257 included a Chipotlane, and 11 international partner-operated restaurants.Food, beverage and packaging costs for 2025 were 29.6% of total revenue, a decrease from 29.8% in 2024. The decrease was due to the benefit of menu price increases and, to a lesser extent, cost of sales efficiencies. These decreases were partially offset by inflation, primarily in beef and chicken, and the tariffs enacted in 2025.Labor costs for 2025 were 25.1% of total revenue, an increase from 24.7% in 2024. The increase was primarily due to lower sales volumes and wage inflation, partially offset by the benefit from menu price increases.General and administrative expenses for 2025 were $652.0 million, compared to $697.5 million for 2024. The decrease was primarily due to lower performance bonuses and legal reserves. On a non-GAAP basis, general and administrative expenses1 for 2025 were $621.6 million compared to $686.8 million for 2024.The effective income tax rate for 2025 was 23.6%, a decrease from 23.7% in 2024. The decrease was primarily due to increases in U.S. federal income tax credits and a reduction in nondeductible expenses. These decreases were partially offset with a reduction in excess tax benefits related to option exercises and equity vesting.Net income for 2025 was $1.54 billion, or $1.14 per diluted share, compared to $1.53 billion, or $1.11 per diluted share, in 2024. Adjusted net income1 for 2025 was $1.57 billion, or $1.17 per adjusted diluted share, compared to $1.54 billion, or $1.12 per adjusted diluted share, in 2024.During 2025, we repurchased $2.4 billion of stock at an average price per share of $42.54.More information will be available in our Annual Report on Form 10-K, which will be filed with the SEC in early February 2026."Recipe for Growth" StrategyChipotle's "Recipe for Growth" strategy is leaning into what uniquely differentiates the brand, all to accelerate growth and sharpen competitiveness. RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURESBelow are definitions of the non-GAAP financial measures in this release. The following tables provide a reconciliation of non-GAAP financial measures presented in this release to the most directly comparable financial measures calculated and presented in accordance with GAAP.Adjusted net income is net income excluding restaurant asset impairment and gains, corporate asset impairment and gains, expenses/(reductions) related to certain legal proceedings, stock-based compensation forfeiture, stock-based compensation retention grants, and loss on investments. Adjusted general and administrative expense is general and administrative expense excluding expenses related to certain legal proceedings, stock-based compensation forfeiture and stock-based compensation retention grants. The adjusted effective income tax rate is the effective income tax rate adjusted to reflect the after tax impact of non-GAAP adjustments. Restaurant level operating margin is equal to the revenues generated by our restaurants less their direct operating costs which consist of food, beverage and packaging, labor, occupancy and other operating costs, expressed as a percent of total revenue. This performance measure primarily includes the costs that restaurant level managers can directly control and excludes other costs that are essential to conduct our business. Management uses restaurant level operating margin as a measure of restaurant performance. Management believes restaurant level operating margin is useful to investors in that it highlights trends in our core business that may not otherwise be apparent to investors when relying solely on GAAP financial measures. We present these non-GAAP measures in order to facilitate meaningful evaluation of our operating performance across periods. These adjustments are intended to provide greater transparency of underlying performance and to allow investors to evaluate our business on the same basis as our management, which uses these non-GAAP measures in evaluating the company's performance. Our adjusted net income, adjusted diluted earnings per share, adjusted general and administrative expenses, adjusted effective income tax rate and restaurant level operating margin measures may not be comparable to other companies' adjusted measures. These adjustments are not necessarily indicative of what our actual financial performance would have been during the periods presented and should be viewed in addition to, and not as an alternative to, our results prepared in accordance with GAAP. Further details regarding these adjustments are included in the tables below.CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL, INC.RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURES

CHIPOTLE KICKS OFF 2026 MENU INNOVATION WITH THE RETURN OF CHICKEN AL PASTOR, ONE OF ITS MOST REQUESTED ITEMSJanuary 27, 2026 12:53 PM

Chicken al Pastor, a craveable protein featuring bold flavors like adobo, morita peppers and ground achiote with fresh lime, cilantro and a splash of pineapple, will return to restaurants on February 10 for a limited timeFor the first time, guests can enjoy Chipotle's High Protein Cup with Chicken al PastorThe protein's launch marks the first limited-time offering (LTO) for Chipotle this year. Chipotle is accelerating its 2026 menu innovation schedule with three to four protein offerings, in addition to new sides and dipsThe brand is celebrating the launch with a "Fan Day" on February 9, giving Chipotle Rewards members early access to Chicken al Pastor in the Chipotle appNEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced that it is bringing back Chicken al Pastor to restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the UK, France and Germany for a limited time starting Tuesday, February 10. The fan-favorite returns as Chipotle accelerates its 2026 menu innovation schedule with three to four limited-time protein offerings as well as new sides and dips. Chicken al Pastor debuted three years ago as Chipotle's first global menu innovation, gaining fans worldwide with its sophisticated flavor profile and elevated taste. Prepared daily in small batches, Chicken al Pastor is made with freshly grilled chicken, a rich marinade featuring seared morita peppers and ground achiote, balanced with a splash of pineapple for the right amount of heat, and finished with fresh lime and hand-chopped cilantro. For the first time, guests can enjoy Chipotle's High Protein Cup with Chicken al Pastor."Chicken al Pastor built a passionate following, so we had to bring it back to the menu for our fans," said Stephanie Perdue, Interim Chief Marketing Officer of Chipotle. "We've seen thousands of comments asking for its return because the unique, bold flavor goes perfectly with their favorite Chipotle order."Fans Experience Fire and Flavor First
Chicken al Pastor has been top of mind for guests who have flooded the comment sections of Chipotle's social channels petitioning for the return of the protein since it left the menu. There have been more than twice as many requests to "bring back Chicken al Pastor" on social media than for any other limited-time offering in the brand's history (see HERE, HERE and HERE for social post examples). As a thank-you to guests for their continued fandom, Chipotle Rewards members can order Chicken al Pastor exclusively on the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com or Chipotle.ca on Monday, February 9, one day before the protein is available to all guests. New Menu Items Ramp Up at Chipotle
In 2026, Chipotle's pace of menu innovation will be faster than ever with new offerings and occasions. The brand's past cadence of two limited-time proteins per year has helped drive a meaningful increase in transactions. Internal data shows that new and existing guests who purchase an LTO increase frequency and spend over the following year compared to guests who do not purchase an LTO. These craveable new items drive trial and keep Chipotle more visible, relevant and loved throughout the year."Our team is focused on delivering new flavor experiences that are delicious, on-trend, on-brand, and operationally consistent for our restaurant teams to execute for our guests," said Nevielle Panthaky, Vice President of Culinary at Chipotle. "Chicken al Pastor's comeback is a preview of what's in store this year at Chipotle."For fans trying Chicken al Pastor for the first time, Panthaky recommends ordering a Chicken al Pastor burrito with white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and guac on the side. The burrito features 54 grams of protein and 22 grams of fiber.$0 Delivery Fee Offer
To celebrate the return of Chicken al Pastor, Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee* on all Chicken al Pastor orders placed through the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com and Chipotle.ca from Saturday, February 14, through Saturday, February 28. *Higher menu prices are charged for delivery; additional service and other fees applied at checkout as well (except in CA, CO, MA, MN and VA). Available February 14 through February 28, only, within Chipotle's delivery areas from participating U.S. and Canada locations, during normal operating hours for such locations. Offer is not valid on catering or Burritos by the Box orders. Redemptions of Chipotle Rewards and other promotional offers may be included in a qualifying delivery order but do not count towards satisfaction of minimum purchase requirements. Kristen Scholer delivers the pre-market update on December 12th

The Dow Jones is mixed early Friday, following a session where the S&P 500 and Russell 2000 hit record highs. Analysts say the rally's broadening is a healthy sign for the bull market.
Wednesday's quarter-point rate cut by the Federal Reserve lowered borrowing costs and boosted growth forecasts for next year, encouraging moves into cyclical stocks.
Shares of Chipotle rose 2.7% yesterday ahead of today's announcement that it opened its 4,000th restaurant in Manhattan, Kansas. CEO Scott Boatwright will ring the NYSE opening bell to celebrate.
