New Street Research Sees Further Upside for SpaceX Ahead of Market Debut (SPCX)

NASDAQ:SPCX
Latest News
June 11 2026 8:39AM

New Street Research has initiated coverage of SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) with a 12-month price target of $165 per share, implying potential upside of approximately 22% from the company’s proposed IPO price and valuing the business at around $2.3 trillion following its potential acquisition of Cursor.

Analyst Pierre Ferragu outlined a multi-faceted valuation approach that supports a higher assessment of the company as it prepares for one of the most closely watched stock market debuts in history.

Valuation Built on Three Key Frameworks

Ferragu said the research firm’s analysis was based on three separate valuation methodologies designed to assess both the current business and its long-term growth potential.

The first approach uses a sum-of-the-parts framework, including a discounted cash flow valuation of Starlink and an assessment of how xAI’s value could be enhanced by the proposed Cursor acquisition, its integration with what Ferragu described as a “highly cash-generating telecom business,” and the possibility of gaining direct access to orbital computing capabilities.

Within this framework, third-party launch services were viewed as a relatively minor contributor to overall value.

Focus on Long-Term Growth Potential

The second valuation method examines where SpaceX could stand by 2030 in terms of revenue generation and growth prospects.

Under this scenario, New Street Research applied valuation multiples based on earnings and sales metrics from comparable companies to estimate the company’s future worth.

The analysis reflects expectations that SpaceX’s businesses, particularly Starlink and its artificial intelligence initiatives, could continue expanding at a rapid pace over the coming years.

Broader Space Market Opportunity Considered

The third element of the valuation process serves as a cross-check against the long-term size of the global space economy.

Ferragu’s assessment considers how SpaceX could benefit from the continued expansion of commercial space activities, satellite communications, launch services and emerging space-based computing opportunities.

The combination of these factors contributed to the firm’s bullish outlook on the stock ahead of its public listing.

Investor Interest Builds Ahead of IPO

New Street Research’s coverage launch comes as SpaceX moves closer to its highly anticipated initial public offering, an event that has attracted significant attention from both institutional and retail investors.

The company’s public debut is expected to be one of the largest and most closely scrutinised listings ever undertaken.

Debate Continues Over Potential Tesla Tie-Up

Separately, discussion around a possible future combination of SpaceX and Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) continues to attract attention on Wall Street.

Earlier this week, Wolfe Research noted that speculation surrounding a potential merger between the two Elon Musk-led companies has increasingly entered mainstream investor discussions, with some shareholders citing the possibility as a central reason for owning Tesla stock.

However, analysts at Oppenheimer pushed back against that view in a note released on Thursday, stating that they see little strategic rationale for a merger between Tesla and SpaceX.

The differing opinions highlight the growing debate among investors over how Musk’s various ventures may evolve as SpaceX enters the public markets.

How about those on this board who despite
the 'warnings' being voiced, kept telling us
how cheap the shares were. And how high they were
going to go.

At least they had a heads up when they were buying that
things were a bit dicey..

Not a problem, didn't take it as a directed
comment.

Plus, I don't get 'offended' very easily,
for life is too short and there are a lot of more
important things to deal with.

SpaceX is conducting its highly anticipated Starship Flight 13 test mission tonight, Thursday, July 16, 2026. This marks the first major Starship flight since SpaceX’s public market debut on the Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX.
This test flight is uniquely critical for both technical validation and institutional investors monitoring the new SPCX stock

Looking for wall street and the so called
financial channels (propagandists for wall street and
a certain political party) to let spcx disappear
into the background now that its no longer 'useful'
to propagandize it.

Nope, look for them to let spcx disappear as part of their
effort to cover up what happened.

And note, take a look at whats been happening to the likes of
RKLB, LUNR, FJET to name three that ran up in the pre IPO hype/BS..

SpaceX shares face fresh pressure as lockup expiration approaches (SPCX)July 16, 2026 6:37 AM
IH Market News SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) shares have slipped below their initial public offering price, raising concerns that the stock could face additional volatility as insider lockup restrictions begin to expire in the coming weeks. The stock fell to an intraday low of $132.15 on Wednesday before recovering to close at $135.27. Since reaching record highs shortly after its June 11 IPO, the shares have declined roughly 33%, although the company still commands a market capitalization of about $1.8 trillion. Lockup expiry could significantly increase share supply Despite completing the largest IPO in US history, SpaceX floated less than 5% of its outstanding shares, creating a limited public float that helped drive its valuation to approximately $2.1 trillion following its Nasdaq debut. That dynamic is set to change as lockup restrictions on employees, early investors and insiders begin to expire, allowing substantially more shares to enter the market. “We think at this level, it’s relatively safe to at least be involved from a trading perspective,” said Jay Hatfield, CEO of Infrastructure Capital Advisors in New York. “We won’t overweight it because they do have the lockup coming.” Valuation remains elevated despite recent decline Even after the recent pullback, SpaceX continues to trade at around 49 times expected revenue, making it one of the most expensive large-cap stocks based on that valuation measure. For comparison, Tesla, another company closely associated with Elon Musk, recently traded at approximately 15 times expected revenue. Supporters of the stock argue that its premium valuation reflects the long-term potential of Starlink, its commercial and government launch operations, and Musk’s ability to attract investor confidence, despite the company reporting a net loss of nearly $5 billion last year. According to LSEG data, 27 of the 32 analysts covering the stock currently recommend buying, while four have neutral ratings and one recommends selling. IPO performance and future share releases remain in focus A Reuters review of 50 major US IPOs since 2010 found that companies whose shares traded below their IPO price within the first two months generally delivered weaker long-term performance than those that remained above their offering price. The first lockup expiration will allow employees and selected early investors to sell approximately 911.5 million shares on the second trading day following SpaceX’s first quarterly earnings release. Although the company has not announced its reporting date, analysts expect results to be released in early August. Those shares are currently valued at roughly $123 billion, exceeding the estimated $86 billion worth of shares currently available for public trading. A further 455.8 million shares could become eligible for sale if SpaceX’s stock trades above $175.50 for at least five of the 10 trading days leading up to the earnings announcement. By early December, around 40% of SpaceX’s total shares could be freely traded, while the remaining 60%, including Elon Musk’s holdings, are expected to remain locked up until the middle of 2027. IHUB Time T: I think you are nuts (but I could be wrong). Starlink is huge; space launching business is huge (once Starship orbits the Earth and then lands at Starbase -- that should boost stock price by $50/share or more; and of course AI is still cooking; then there is chip manufacturing.
I still think $400s/share by end of December. We shall see - $50 (your prediction) vs $400s (my prediction) by end of December 2026

WALL STREET did this to the 'little people'. And the worst
part is the forcing of etfs, index funds to buy shares at the prices
they have (for those that have bought already)

Not to mention the suckering/propagandizing of the little people
into thinking they were getting a great deal.

But at the same time, while Wall Street has the responsibility for
the damage this is going to do to a lot of early buyers? Those that
did the buying have their own share of the blame as well for not
seeing what was going on, what they were doing to themselves.

and I say this, because this damn game is being played over and over
again cause it 'works' for those that control the game.

People are starting to realize they were scammed and paid far more per share than its real value.
They're selling at the best possible price to try and at least recoup the $135 they paid.
The release of insider shares hasn't even started yet... and the price keeps falling.

$50 until end of year

Since nobody got in below IPO $135 there are nothing but losers at this point - Think about those who loved it over $200
Yikes - Never follow Wall Street when they pump stuff they got freebies or $20 shares in - RETAIL WILL ALWAYS BE RUINED UNTIL IT DROPS TO A NATURAL NOT PUMPED PPS.

BOTTOM IS ABOUT $50 - $75 IF THEY CAN PUT OUT MORE BS TO KEEP IT THAT HIGH.
