Anthropic Opens Public Access to Fable 5 While Maintaining Safeguards on Advanced AI Capabilities (ANTP)

NASDAQ:ANTP
Latest News
June 10 2026 6:07AM

Anthropic (NASDAQ:ANTP), developer of the Claude family of artificial intelligence models, has launched a public version of its advanced Mythos-class technology while retaining restrictions on sensitive use cases.

The newly released model, called Fable 5, marks the first broadly available offering from Anthropic’s Mythos series, the company’s most advanced generation of AI systems. The Mythos platform was unveiled in April but had remained limited to a small group of approved institutions due to concerns surrounding cybersecurity and misuse.

Anthropic said Fable 5 is designed to support tasks such as software development, complex research, image analysis and technical problem-solving.

Restricted Version Remains Available to Selected Partners

Alongside the public release, Anthropic is continuing to provide an unrestricted version known as Claude Mythos 5 to a select group of organisations with authorised access to the platform.

These users include cybersecurity partners participating in the company’s Project Glasswing initiative. Anthropic expanded the programme earlier this month to roughly 200 organisations across more than 15 countries and expects participation to continue growing.

The company has previously argued that Mythos possesses the capability to rapidly identify vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure, including financial networks and power systems, prompting a more cautious rollout strategy.

Security Concerns Shaped the Launch Strategy

Anthropic’s decision to limit access to Mythos initially generated debate within the technology sector, with some critics questioning whether the company was overstating potential risks.

However, organisations that have tested the model have generally supported Anthropic’s assessment of its capabilities. The U.S. government has also conducted evaluations of the technology as part of broader security reviews.

Following those assessments, the White House established a framework under which leading AI developers can collaborate with government agencies to evaluate their most advanced models prior to public deployment. Anthropic said Mythos 5 is being deployed under that arrangement.

Sensitive Queries Redirected to Less Powerful Models

To reduce potential risks, Anthropic has implemented safeguards within Fable 5 that redirect many requests involving cybersecurity, biology or chemistry to Claude Opus 4.8, a less capable model released publicly in May.

The company said similar restrictions apply to suspected attempts to extract information that could be used to train competing AI systems, particularly where concerns exist around unauthorised technology transfer.

Anthropic also conducted extensive security testing before launch, hiring independent specialists to spend more than 1,000 hours attempting to bypass the model’s protections through a process known as red-teaming.

In addition, the company ran a bug bounty programme that rewarded researchers for identifying vulnerabilities. According to Anthropic, no participant succeeded in fully circumventing the safeguards.

AI Policy Disputes and Commercial Challenges Continue

The release comes amid ongoing tensions between Anthropic and the U.S. administration over the company’s stance on applications involving mass surveillance and autonomous weapons systems.

The disagreement led to the termination of Pentagon contracts previously held by Anthropic, despite its AI systems having secured defence-related security clearances.

Fable 5 is also being introduced at a premium price point. Anthropic said usage will cost $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, approximately double the pricing of Claude Opus 4.8.

Despite strong revenue growth, the company remains unprofitable and continues to face significant infrastructure costs. Anthropic recently entered into an agreement to lease data centre capacity from Elon Musk’s xAI, part of SpaceX, at a reported cost of $1.25 billion per month.

AI Sector Momentum Remains Intense

The launch of Fable 5 arrives during a period of heightened investor interest in artificial intelligence companies.

Both Anthropic and OpenAI recently disclosed plans related to potential public offerings, while SpaceX is preparing for a highly anticipated market debut that could become one of the largest listings in history.

As competition intensifies across the AI sector, Anthropic is positioning its Mythos platform as a powerful but carefully controlled technology aimed at balancing innovation with security considerations.

OpenAI and Google Provided AI Services to Pentagon-Listed Chinese Groups via Singapore UnitsJuly 10, 2026 6:14 AM
IH Market News OpenAI (NASDAQ:OAI) and Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google have supplied advanced artificial intelligence services to Singapore-based subsidiaries of Alibaba (NYSE:BABA), Baidu Inc (NASDAQ:BIDU) and Tencent Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:TME), despite the parent companies appearing on the Pentagon’s blacklist, according to a Financial Times report published on Friday. Shares of Alphabet were little changed in premarket trading, while U.S.-listed Alibaba shares also traded broadly flat. AI Access Remained Within Current U.S. Rules The Financial Times reported that both OpenAI and Google confirmed they had provided AI services to Singapore affiliates of the Chinese technology companies, even though their parent organisations are included on the Pentagon’s 1260H list, which identifies businesses that the U.S. government alleges have ties to China’s military. According to the report, the transactions remain lawful because existing U.S. regulations do not broadly prohibit Chinese-headquartered companies from using advanced AI models outside mainland China. Nevertheless, the disclosures have intensified calls in Washington for tighter export controls on cutting-edge AI software similar to existing restrictions on advanced semiconductor technology. OpenAI Tightened API Access The report said OpenAI suspended API access last month for users linked to Alibaba after detecting possible “distillation,” a technique in which developers use the outputs of advanced AI systems to improve competing models. OpenAI said it notified the U.S. government after identifying the activity. OpenAI told the Financial Times that it blocks direct access to its models from mainland China but permits certain Chinese-owned businesses to use its services in jurisdictions where appropriate safeguards can be applied. Google said its AI products remain available in markets including Singapore and Hong Kong under existing usage policies, while acknowledging that geographical restrictions alone cannot completely prevent sophisticated users from bypassing controls. Anthropic Takes a Tougher Position The report added that Anthropic (NASDAQ:ANTP) has adopted a stricter policy by prohibiting Chinese companies, along with overseas entities under their ownership, from accessing its frontier AI models. The company has also called for broader U.S. export controls aimed at preventing advanced American artificial intelligence technology from contributing to the development of competing AI systems in China. Alibaba to block Claude Code in workplace amid reported security concerns (BABA)July 3, 2026 5:25 AM
IH Market News Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) will reportedly ban employees from using Anthropic’s (NASDAQ:ANTP) Claude Code in its workplace systems from July 10 over alleged security concerns, according to a Reuters report citing a person familiar with the matter. The decision follows a report by Chinese financial publication Yicai, which claimed that Alibaba had identified what it described as embedded “backdoor” risks within the AI-powered coding assistant. Shares of Alibaba listed in Hong Kong fell 0.7%, underperforming the broader Hang Seng Index, which gained 1.3% during the session. The reported restriction comes as relations between Alibaba and Anthropic have become increasingly strained in recent weeks. Last month, Anthropic alleged that individuals linked to Alibaba and its Qwen artificial intelligence division carried out a large-scale effort to extract capabilities from Claude models using fraudulent accounts. Alibaba has not publicly responded to those allegations. Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI software development assistant, has become one of the most widely adopted coding tools in the industry. However, access to Anthropic’s most advanced AI models has attracted increasing regulatory attention. Last week, the U.S. government partially reinstated access to the company’s flagship models for a limited number of trusted organizations after previously imposing temporary restrictions over national security concerns. Alibaba continues to expand its Qwen family of large language models as competition intensifies with domestic AI developers including DeepSeek, Tencent and Baidu. At the same time, Anthropic has strengthened protections around the Claude platform in response to growing concerns over model distillation and unauthorized cross-border use. AI Developments and Iran Diplomacy Drive Market Sentiment: Dow Jones, S&P, Nasdaq, Wall Street FuturesJune 22, 2026 6:04 AM
IH Market News U.S. stock index futures recovered part of their earlier losses on Monday after signs of progress emerged from diplomatic discussions between Iran and the United States, easing concerns about renewed tensions in the Middle East. Investors also remained focused on developments within the artificial intelligence sector after President Donald Trump adopted a less confrontational tone toward Anthropic (NASDAQ:ANTP), following days of uncertainty surrounding export restrictions on advanced AI models. Meanwhile, the semiconductor sector continued to reflect the growing influence of artificial intelligence, with SK Hynix (USOTC:HXSCL) surpassing Samsung Electronics (USOTC:SSNHZ) as South Korea’s most valuable listed company. Futures Recover as Diplomatic Optimism Returns By 07:33 GMT, futures linked to the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were each down 0.06%, while Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.16%. Earlier in the session, futures had fallen more sharply after President Trump warned that additional military action against Iran remained possible despite ongoing negotiations. The comments initially revived fears of a renewed escalation in the region. However, market sentiment improved after Iranian officials and international mediators struck a more constructive tone following talks held in Switzerland. Investors continue to monitor whether diplomatic efforts can prevent another surge in oil prices and reduce geopolitical uncertainty. A durable agreement could support risk assets while helping to ease concerns about energy-driven inflation. Iran Reports Progress in Negotiations Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi stated that “major progress” had been achieved during discussions with U.S. representatives. In comments published on social media, Aragchi said negotiations had advanced efforts to end the conflict, including discussions surrounding waivers for Iranian oil and petrochemical exports, the removal of a U.S. naval blockade and the launch of reconstruction and development initiatives. Mediators from Pakistan and Qatar also characterised the first round of high-level talks in Switzerland as encouraging and confirmed that further meetings are planned. Although several key issues remain unresolved, the latest statements suggest both sides remain committed to pursuing a diplomatic solution despite recent military tensions. Trump Softens Position on Anthropic Artificial intelligence remained a major focus for investors after Trump indicated that he no longer considers Anthropic a significant national security concern. Speaking to Axios, the president said that although his administration may have taken a different view a week earlier, Anthropic had responded “very quickly” and “responsibly” to concerns raised by officials. Earlier this month, the U.S. Commerce Department imposed export restrictions on Anthropic’s flagship Mythos and Fable AI models, forcing the company to withdraw the software from the market. A leaked government document also suggested that foreign nationals would require individually approved licences to access the models, including certain non-U.S. employees. The dispute highlighted growing tensions between national security objectives and efforts to maintain U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. While Trump’s latest comments may reduce some immediate concerns, he stopped short of ruling out future intervention. For investors, the episode reinforces the view that regulation is becoming an increasingly important risk factor for AI developers and the broader technology ecosystem. SK Hynix Overtakes Samsung SK Hynix became South Korea’s largest listed company by market value on Monday, overtaking long-time leader Samsung Electronics. Shares in SK Hynix climbed 3.7%, lifting its market capitalisation to approximately 2,082 trillion won. Samsung shares fell 1.4%, leaving its valuation slightly below that level. The development reflects the growing importance of artificial intelligence infrastructure. SK Hynix has benefited from strong demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are critical components used in advanced AI systems. The company supplies memory products to Nvidia and recently announced that samples of its next-generation HBM4 chips had been provided to major customers. The shift highlights how value creation within the AI sector is increasingly extending beyond software developers to suppliers of essential hardware and infrastructure. Charles Schwab Prepares Binary Options Launch Charles Schwab (NYSE:SCHW) is reportedly preparing to introduce a new category of options contracts that would allow investors to place simple directional bets on the performance of the S&P 500. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the brokerage is working with Cboe Global Markets to launch binary options products in the coming months. The contracts would provide a fixed payout if a prediction proves correct and no return if it does not. Supporters argue that the products offer a straightforward way to express market views, while critics contend that their all-or-nothing structure may encourage speculative behaviour. The initiative reflects a broader trend among brokerage firms seeking to expand their product offerings and attract greater participation from retail investors. Five Key Market Themes Investors Will Be Watching This WeekJune 15, 2026 6:29 AM
IH Market News A preliminary peace agreement between the United States and Iran has emerged as the dominant market story at the start of the week, with investors assessing the implications for energy markets, inflation and central bank policy. Attention is also focused on a series of interest-rate decisions from major central banks, the post-IPO performance of SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX), and developments surrounding AI company Anthropic (NASDAQ:ANTP). 1. U.S. and Iran Reach Preliminary Peace Agreement The United States and Iran have announced an interim agreement aimed at ending a conflict that has lasted for more than three months and weighed heavily on the global economy. Pakistan, which has acted as a mediator during the negotiations, said a memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both countries have “declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts.” He added that the arrangement also covers Lebanon. Questions over the agreement’s durability emerged after Israel launched strikes against Iran-backed Hezbollah targets in Lebanon over the weekend, prompting criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from U.S. President Donald Trump. Although neither Washington nor Tehran has released the full details of the accord, Iran has indicated that implementation will only begin after the formal signing ceremony. Trump said the deal would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments moved before the conflict erupted in late February. In a social media post, he said the waterway would reopen on Friday following mine-clearing operations and added that the long-standing U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports would also be lifted. 2. Federal Reserve Decision Takes Centre Stage Global equity markets advanced while oil prices fell after news of the agreement, as investors reassessed the outlook for inflation and economic growth. However, analysts remain cautious about how quickly energy markets can normalise. ING analysts noted that “[R]estarting infrastructure and logistics flows could take time, while some shipping operators may remain cautious about returning to the Strait in the near term. Meanwhile, inventories and strategic stockpiles will need to be rebuilt after recent disruptions, which should keep prices supported even as flows gradually resume.” The Federal Reserve’s policy decision on Wednesday will be closely watched to determine whether easing geopolitical tensions alter the central bank’s outlook. Markets broadly expect rates to remain unchanged this week, although expectations for interest-rate cuts have faded significantly following stronger inflation data. Analysts at Vital Knowledge said “[I]t’s still very likely that the easing bias will be removed from the FOMC statement.” However, they believe new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh “could put his thumb on the scale during the [post-decision] press conference and tip things in a dovish direction by reiterating” comments suggesting that rate reductions could become appropriate if tensions with Iran continue to ease. 3. Bank of Japan Faces Key Policy Test Beyond the Federal Reserve, investors will monitor a busy calendar of central bank decisions around the world. The Bank of Japan is expected to face a difficult balancing act as policymakers contend with inflationary pressures, yen weakness and growing political scrutiny. Markets are widely anticipating an increase in interest rates to the highest level in more than three decades, as officials attempt to contain price growth while avoiding damage to Japan’s economic recovery. Meanwhile, the Bank of England is expected to leave rates unchanged at 3.75% on Thursday, maintaining a cautious approach after recent comments from Governor Andrew Bailey that policymakers had “already tightened policy considerably” by abandoning plans for a possible rate cut in 2026. Other central banks due to announce policy decisions this week include the Swiss National Bank, Sweden’s Riksbank and the Reserve Bank of Australia. 4. SpaceX Begins Its First Full Week as a Public Company SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) remains one of the market’s biggest talking points after delivering the largest IPO in history last week. The company’s shares continued to rise in premarket trading on Monday after a strong debut that pushed its valuation above $2 trillion, making it one of the most valuable publicly traded companies in the United States. On Sunday, Elon Musk suggested that SpaceX could eventually generate $1 trillion in annual revenue by 2030. By comparison, the company reported revenue of $18.7 billion in 2025. Retail investors played a significant role in the stock’s first day of trading, purchasing approximately $117.6 million worth of shares, according to Reuters, citing data from Vanda Research. Some analysts have cautioned that the stock could experience elevated volatility due to its limited public float and rapidly expanding valuation. 5. Anthropic Executives Set for White House Discussions The success of SpaceX’s flotation may offer clues about investor demand for future large-scale technology listings, including a potential offering from Anthropic (NASDAQ:ANTP). According to Axios, senior technical employees from the artificial intelligence company are expected to meet White House officials this week to address a dispute that has resulted in one of Anthropic’s most advanced AI models being taken offline. The report cited a source close to the company who said discussions between Anthropic and White House representatives began after the Trump administration contacted the company last week. The administration reportedly instructed Anthropic to block access to its Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models for all foreign nationals, whether inside or outside the United States. Anthropic subsequently announced plans to disable the models globally, even after introducing cybersecurity safeguards for Fable. The company has previously highlighted concerns about the potential misuse of Mythos’s advanced capabilities. The outcome of these discussions may have implications for both Anthropic’s future IPO plans and the broader regulatory environment surrounding advanced artificial intelligence systems. Rubrik Unveils Control and Recovery Tools for Anthropic’s Claude AI Agents (RBRK)June 11, 2026 8:41 AM
IH Market News Rubrik (NYSE:RBRK) has introduced Rubrik Agent Cloud for Anthropic’s (NASDAQ:ANTP) Claude Code and Claude Cowork, providing organizations with new capabilities to deploy, monitor and manage AI-powered agents while maintaining greater operational control. The launch includes tools designed to track agent activity, recover from unintended actions and strengthen resilience as enterprises increasingly adopt autonomous AI systems. New Safeguards for Claude-Powered Agents The platform introduces what Rubrik describes as an agent rewind capability, allowing organizations to reverse erroneous actions performed by AI agents. The offering also includes immutable codebase recovery, enabling businesses to restore systems when mistakes bypass traditional version-control protections. Rubrik said the platform continuously backs up, monitors and restores the configurations that govern agent behavior, helping organizations maintain oversight as AI agents take on more complex operational responsibilities. Autonomous Business Recovery Introduced Alongside Agent Cloud, Rubrik announced Autonomous Business Recovery for Cloud Applications, a solution designed to restore cloud environments that include data, networking, identity systems and application configurations. The technology is intended to accelerate recovery efforts by rebuilding what the company refers to as an organization’s Minimum Viable Business through highly automated processes. Rather than focusing on individual systems, the platform aims to restore the interconnected infrastructure required to resume critical business operations following a disruption. Addressing Emerging AI Security Risks Rubrik noted that AI agents are increasingly capable of writing, committing and deploying code without direct human supervision. However, many enterprise security frameworks were originally designed with the assumption that people would remain involved in key decision-making processes. According to the company, this shift introduces new risks including rogue code commits, repository ransomware, prompt injection attacks and intellectual property theft, all of which can occur at speeds beyond the capabilities of many traditional DevSecOps controls. “Organizations are adopting Claude faster than any agentic technology we have seen, and every security leader asks the same question: how do we stay in control when an agent can act?” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. Recovery Planning Conducted Before Attacks Occur The Autonomous Business Recovery platform is powered by Rubrik’s Preemptive Recovery Engine, which performs recovery preparation activities during normal business operations. The system identifies critical applications and their dependencies, validates clean recovery points and builds recovery plans in advance. As a result, when a cyberattack or operational failure occurs, recovery workflows are already prepared, potentially reducing downtime and accelerating restoration efforts. Growing Concern Over Recovery Readiness Research from Rubrik Zero Labs indicates that 88% of business leaders are concerned about their ability to meet existing recovery time objectives as AI-driven threats become more sophisticated. The company argues that traditional backup solutions often focus on restoring individual assets rather than the complex web of dependencies that underpin modern cloud applications. With organizations increasingly deploying autonomous AI systems, Rubrik believes that more comprehensive recovery and governance capabilities will become essential components of enterprise cybersecurity strategies.
