Management Team
James D. Bennett
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Bennett was promoted to Chief Executive Officer and President in June 2013. Prior to that he served as President and Chief Financial Officer since March 2013 and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since January 2011. From 2010 until he joined the Company, he was Managing Director for White Deer Energy, a private equity fund focused on the exploration and production, oilfield service and equipment, and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. From 2006 to December 2009, Mr. Bennett was employed by GSO Capital Partners L.P. where he served in various capacities, including as its Managing Director. Mr. Bennett graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance from Texas Tech University in 1993. Mr. Bennett has served on the board of directors of the general partner of Cheniere Energy Partners L.P. and PostRock Energy Corporation.
Julian Bott
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Bott was appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in August 2015. Prior to joining SandRidge, Mr. Bott served as Chief Financial Officer at Texas American Resources Company since 2009. Mr. Bott has more than thirty years of diverse financial experience across the oil and gas and investment banking industries, including as Managing Partner at Kensington Energy Partners and as Chief Financial Officer of 3dMD. Mr. Bott has held various executive positions at the Toronto Dominion Bank, including Regional Head of US and European Corporate and Investment Banking, and Global Head of Energy and Project Finance. Mr. Bott also served as a Managing Director in the Energy Group of Bankers Trust Company. Mr. Bott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration from Rice University. Mr. Bott serves on the Board of Directors of EQT Midstream Partners, LP (NYSE: EQM).
Steve Turk
Executive Vice President And Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Turk was appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer effective March 2, 2015. Mr. Turk joined SandRidge with more than 30 years of experience in the exploration and production industry, at both private and publicly held companies, including having most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at HighMount Exploration & Production LLC from August 2013 to October 2014 and, prior to that, as Vice President Operations, Southern Division for Chesapeake Energy Corporation from September 2008 to August 2013. He also held various operations and management positions for Equitable Production Company, Ziff Energy Group and Cabot Oil and Gas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Edinboro University and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Pennsylvania State University as well as an MBA from Oklahoma City University.
Kevin Clement
Executive Vice President And President Of Saltwater Gathering Operations
Mr. Clement was appointed Executive Vice President And President Of Saltwater Gathering Operations in October 2014. Prior to joining SandRidge, Mr. Clement served as Vice President of SemOperating G.P., L.L.C. and President of SemStream, L.P. and SemGas, L.P. from 2005 to October 2014. From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Clement also served in various capacities at SemStream, L.P., including Chief Operating Officer and President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Clement began his career at Koch Industries, where he served for 23 years, holding various positions of increasing responsibilities in the natural gas liquids, refined products, and finance divisions – the last ten (1995-2005) as Vice President, Western Region – Koch Materials. Mr. Clement serves on the Board of Directors at NGL Energy Partners, LP and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Wichita State University.
Duane Grubert
Executive Vice President of Investor Relations and Strategy
Mr. Grubert was appointed Executive Vice President of Investor Relations and Strategy in December 2013. Prior to joining SandRidge, Mr. Grubert spent 14 years as a Wall Street analyst covering the oil and gas exploration and production sector, most recently for Susquehanna Financial Group. From 1983 to 2000, Mr. Grubert served in various capacities at Unocal Corporation (now part of Chevron), including in petroleum engineering, international business development and finally as General Manager of Corporate Strategy and Business Intelligence. Mr. Grubert holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration from California State University.
Craig A. Johnson
Executive Vice President of Operations
Mr. Johnson was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations in August 2014. Prior to this, Mr. Johnson held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations since July 2011 and Vice President of Western Operations since joining SandRidge in June 2007. Prior to joining SandRidge, Mr. Johnson was Operations Manager for the Eastern Division of Samson Resources, having also served in various engineering and asset management positions in the Gulf Coast, Mid-Continent and Eastern regions. Mr. Johnson graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.
Randall D. Cooley
Senior Vice President – Accounting
Mr. Cooley joined us as Vice President of Accounting in November 2006, upon acquisition of NEG Oil & Gas LLC and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Accounting in January 2008. Prior to joining SandRidge, Mr. Cooley served as the senior financial officer with National Energy Group, Inc., having held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from March 2003 to November 2006. Mr. Cooley earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Lance Galvin
Senior Vice President – Corporate Reservoir Engineering
Mr. Galvin, Senior Vice President of Corporate Reservoir Engineering, joined SandRidge in August 2011 as Reservoir Engineering Manager and was promoted to Vice President in January 2012. Mr. Galvin has 32 years of industry experience focused on reservoir engineering and asset management. Prior to joining SandRidge, he worked for PostRock Energy from 2009 to 2011, serving in several vice president positions. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer for privately-held Windsor Energy from 2008 to 2009. His experience also includes working as a consulting petroleum engineer for Pinnacle Energy Services, LLC for five years. Mr. Galvin began his career in the oil and gas industry in 1980 with Marathon Oil Company where he held various positions of increasing responsibilities in engineering and management in domestic and international locations. Mr. Galvin graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Oklahoma.
R. Scott Griffin
Senior Vice President – People and Culture
Mr. Griffin was appointed Senior Vice President – People and Culture in November 2013. Mr. Griffin returns to SandRidge from Chaparral Energy, where he led the strategic Human Resources function. He previously served as Director of Human Resources at SandRidge from 2008 to 2012. For the past 26 years, Mr. Griffin has held various HR and leadership roles including 13 years as Senior Vice President of Wood Designs, a leading retail fixture manufacturer, and 5 years as the principal of redlion Industrial Supply, a company he founded and managed. Mr. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Oklahoma and has completed graduate coursework in Organizational Development.
Bill Masino
Senior Vice President – Appraisals and New Ventures
Mr. Masino was appointed as Senior Vice President – Appraisals and New Ventures effective August 3, 2015. Prior to joining SandRidge Mr. Masino served as Vice President of Resource Development & Reservoir Engineering at American Energy Partners, LP since 2013. Mr. Masino’s more than 29 years of experience in the exploration and production sector, includes senior management positions at Chesapeake Energy Corp. and HighMount E&P LLC, as well as various and diverse operations and management positions during an eleven-year tenure at Anadarko Petroleum Corp., and ten years at ARCO Alaska, Inc. Mr. Masino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
John Suter
Senior Vice President of Production
Mr. Suter was appointed as Senior Vice President of Production effective April 27, 2015. Mr. Suter joined SandRidge with an extensive history in the exploration and production sector, including having most recently served as Vice President of the Woodford business unit at American Energy Partners, LP since 2013. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Operations for Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s Western Division. He also served as Chesapeake’s District Manager for the Barnett Shale and Southern Oklahoma assets. Prior to Chesapeake, Mr. Suter served in various operational roles at Continental Resources, Inc., Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and Petro-Lewis Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
