<<Please tell me you're not going to drink and boulder.

Aren't you afraid of snakes when you do that? Where I live, boulders and stone walls often mean copperheads.>>

Of course....a few drinks and climbing were meant for each other. Now mind you, I am not advocating getting drunk or anything...or even a little to tipsy, but certainly a few drinks actually helps. It installs a little more confidence, takes away some of the timidness. In climbing, you can not be scared or timid. You must be confident and have a "go for it attitude".....a couple of drinks tends to loosen most people up....actually makes them better climbers.....that is until you cross the line where alcohol is a deterrent, which I try to avoid at all times when engaging in anything that could harm my body....but sure....a few drinks makes me, and most others better climbers as we are more confident and aggressive....to must have attributes if your gonna climb.

Snakes....ha....yep, in my part of the south, snakes are just a way of life. And yep, a real quick funny story...last year, my wife ( deathly afraid of snakes) had just finished a bouldering problem....it was a real crimpy travers across not much of a ledge....when she finished, it was D's turn ( another friend)...as usual, we always ask for beta ( asking one how they did this or that, what move and etc, etc).....his first question was " I would like to know how you got past that middle section and didn't put your hand on that snake sunning himslef up there"....my wife about shit a brick when she saw how clsoe she was to it ....a mere inch or two.....I guess the snake wasn't too worried either<ggg>.....anyway...part of life down here.......they tend to go run and hide when humans come a calling....heck, I am in an actual neighborhood and I always find snakes in my yard.........now my inlaws who live on a woodsy few acres on the lake...they have alot of copperheads and Moc's, but again...just a way of life down here.....

Have a good one, and thanks for caring....
