How about TPC-C? That benchmark uses multiple real and popular database applications.
Yes, that seems to be a good example, though the quote from IBM made it look like they weren't going to push Itanium into that market. Probably IBM politics, can't be because of performance, since that is excellent, though I note that the record-beating TPC figures all use the not yet released 1.5GHz Itanium and have a release date of October.
