I do hope your scenario plays out but only time will tell. What I can tell is that GE has been looking for efficient printers. Prabhjot Singh mentioned that there are over 300 printers at the company.

Yet, Greg Morris states on 11/12/13 there are no printers to perform there plans to build fuel nozzles:

There are many optical systems that includes Mazumder, Sciaky, and Arcam but they prove to be inadequate as they don't measure temperature for proper heating. There was a system build by Optomecs 850R that uses an optical system for temperature mapping for closed-loop control but it depends on focus and gives an estimate of temperature analogous to a weather forecast map.

The optical systems is build by Stratonics and an option for the 850R. Interesting that they do not fully incorporate the temperature map system.

Anyhow, "build the next generation of AM printers" certainly sounds like another puzzle piece. We'll have to wait and see.
