I wish you were right but your are misunderstanding some things. Not to worry, when Kenya gets going this will all be forgotten. I'm still optimistic long term.
They were batch drilling Obo-2 and Entimi-1 in the JDZ-1
They spudded Enitimi-1 and drilled to 2,056. Then they put in a plug and the rig was moved with the BOP hanging to Spud Obo-2 right to completion. They then returned to Enitimi-1 with the BOP still hanging at depth and re-entered and drilled to TD.
Saves time and money as they leave the BOP at depth and don't have to trip it back and forth section by section. They also save a trip of the tool string. Time is money
Saving days at ~ $617,000+ per day for the vessel plus contractors and support vessels can be a big cost savings.
Did they find little...or nothing? Do they just want some time to analyze the data and take another stab at it? Or did it have so much oil that they couldn't believe it...and want to confirm? Who knows? But I'm not so sure that it can be stated as a fact that the first drilling was not a dud. You could be correct but I would guess that there could be several possibilities.
