They have licensed them to 2007. Then the license runs out. After that, they claim that they can design around these 18.

But what about the other 1,800 and the % of those that IDCC claims are essential.

But do we know what IDDC considers essential to the standard? What they consider the engine and transmission?

mschere: Just went back to my posts in January, 05 to review the NOK pleadings filed in De. NOK alleges that either the 18 patents are invalid or that they will not infringe them after 2006. They claim we are litigious and they are afraid we will sue them. (their 3g license protects them from infringement until 2006) They also claim that it takes two years to develope products and that their pipeline of products which will appear after 2006 won't infringe.

They also allege Lanham Act violations (deceptive trade type practices) and seek an injunction as to our further claims that we have all this essential IP that they infringe.

Lanham violations don't result in declarations that the patents are invalid.
