On Robin Trower, I have the Bridge of Sighs album on vinyl. Similar bands on used to jam to, Uriah Heep and Mountain (Lesley West).

used to keep me awake & bobbin' my head whilst driving cross

I personally was never much of a metal head, but the album "Montrose" was a real ground breaker. It kind of opened the door for a whole new chapter.
