fixed - 50 - If i'm not mistaken it was a comment made by mgmy at CES -
Anyone remember the mention of cell asperations in conjunction with PP - It coulda been a partner but I do distincly remember the cell subject being discuessed from developments/information gathered at ces - not for Eclipse...

IMO the ARM they use is applicapble

The digital entertainment re-evolution starts with silicon technology. The PortalPlayer platform is based on the 32-bit ARM7TDMI processor core, which offers a unique combination of high performance, low power and software scalability to future ARM-based cores. We extend the ARM’s power with a unique, and patented, architecture that combines multiple processors in a single chip to offer twice the performance of alternative approaches. This performance advantage enables support for more complex encoders and watermarking algorithms, audio post processing effects such as stereo expansion, and 56K soft modem and networking connectivity enhancements. With PortalPlayer, system designs have the performance headroom to accommodate the ambiguity of the evolving digital music market. PortalPlayer products also feature a broad range of on-chip interfaces, helping to lower total system chip count while reducing design complexity. Our baseline platform, the PP50XX family, includes:

On-chip SRAM and cache
LCD controller and bridge interface
Direct memory interfaces to all major removable media types including Memory Stick, MultiMedia Card, Smart Media Card, Compact Flash, DataPlay, and Iomega PocketZip (previously Clic!) ie. -my DP mention-
Up to four ATAPI devices supported
USB 1.0 and RS232 interfaces
Low cost 208 TQFP or ultra-small Chip Scale Package for portable devices

Maybe I was mistaken - was it Equator... no

50+, here's a little tidbit re PortalPlayer and cellular:

...Portalplayer, a pre-IPO company, is among the few IT companies which covers the entire gamut of hardware, software, embedded firmware and software solutions bundled into one.

"The response to our solutions has been very positive. With digital solutions for encoding and decoding in demand world over, this will be a sought after technology", Mr Mallard said.

"We are also working with a few cellular companies. With technologies such as Bluetooth, we will be able to connect a host of gadgets in an environment." (Mallard is CEO of PortalPlayer)
