Europe 8 Announce Support for US War on Iraq

(London, England) - George W. Bush's strategy against Iraq
received a boost on Thursday as 8 European countries signed
a letter of support for the United States. Great Britain, Italy,
Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, and
Hungary "The transatlantic relationship must not become a
casualty of the current Iraqi regime's persistent attempts to
threaten world security," the eight leaders wrote. (cnn.com)

Iraq responded to the letter with a loud burst of laughter, along
with a few members of the Iraqi parliament clutching their
sides and doubling over. After the laughter died down, Tariq
Aziz offered his opinion. "Oooooo! Portugal! We're shaking
in our boots! And Poland? Give me a break! Kuwait put up
more of a fight than the Polish would." Furthermore, Aziz
added "Denmark? Do they even have an army? Does anyone
notice that every one of these countries has either been
rescued or defeated by the United States sometime in
history? I'm sure the Hungarian Navy is more than a
formidable opponent, NOT!"

Although other members of the European community have
shown their support to the United States, France and Germany
are holding firm in their opposition to military action. It is
believed that they are still upset at Donald Rumsfeld's "Old
Europe" remarks from last week. It is also believed that France
may choose to back Iraq in this campaign, noting that the
French have top-notch experience in surrendering, which will
more than likely be needed by the Iraqi regime in the
coming months.
