You make an interesting point, but as you yourself point out, it is theoretical. You discount that Chinese investors may only want to invest in what they see before them day-by-day, that they may not even be aware of what SIAF is selling for, they may be interested in fish, but, for instance, not interested in beef, and they may be as afraid of owning an American security as some of us may be about investing in China. In short, there are myriad practical obstacles why theory and reality do not meet. Following your logic, in the precious metals arena stocks of producing cos. should have risen much more than the commodities themselves over the last ten years because they enjoy high leverage to price increases; but in fact the opposite is true. The commodities themselves have far outperformed the stocks. Who's to know?
