I went to the Federal court house for lunch, it is just around the corner from the State court. I had just purchased the lunch and sat down when an alarm went off and we had to evacuate the courthouse. There was my meal left on the table. I never did get back in. It was a bomb scare.
Then I went over to the State courthouse and waited outside Judge McBride’s courtroom. All of the jurors were still in the room so I could not get in.
At 4:25 all of the jurors came out and I went in and set down, fully expecting the lawyers and judge to discuss the day.
They are into excusing for cause and they do that with the jury not there. They probably did that for 20 minutes of which I really couldn’t put a story together. The jury pool will be back tomorrow at 9:30 for more selection. The time was mentioned of 10am and I think it was for elimination for preemptory challenges. I can’t be sure of that, I can only speculate, however they indicated that we would be completed by tomorrow.
Judge McBride will meet with the attorneys at 9am and finish off a few items. I will be there and try to get in.
Judge McBride then asked Hynix/Micron how many days they thought the trial would last again. They again replied that it would be 78 days. McBride said --- Well, we will be working on that.
Then McBride told everyone that the court is funded till September, or through September, and then under the current budget in Sacramento they would be out of money. He said that the budget was looking to pull a rabbit out of the hat. There was some other mention that the budget in Sacramento was being put together in 12 days. The priority of the court system is juvenile, criminal, family, and then civil. The court system takes 3% of the total budget.
I have no knowledge regarding the California budget except that it is in sorry shape.
Sorry for the late post, there were family matters first.
