#2654 RE: Nitt #2650

NITT, that is very well said.

The only way I can see AMD being successful is if the industry does buy into the hype. Why else would AMD execs be making hyperbolic remarks such as aiming to be #1 in the PC processor market, given their current execution and financial situation? Such a move is well beyond their means, now and in the nearly conceivable future. They know that unless they put on a big show, all their customers will be so wary about their future that current concerns will end up becoming a self fulfilling prophesy. I wonder if Hector and the other execs got together and actually figured out what it would take to save the company, and the realization was so terrifying that they decided that B.S. was the only road to salvation. It certainly seems that way from my perspective. Most other companies know the difference between bragging about a new design, and sticking their feet in their mouths with unrealistic claims, but AMD seems to have taken the latter to whole new levels.
