I own STHG, no issues with ETRADE deposits for me.

Wired money in yesterday and today. Called etrade and asked about this issue being discussed, and was told that linked deposits (vs. wires) take three days, which is usual for me prior to owning STHG...

maybe it's the three days (friday, monday tues) that got you to the five day count? don't count weekends, i think.
