I have had mine in for a week and it started making this slight buzzing noise. I had to unscrew the bulb shake it a little and the noise went away but only for a while.

Don't know about MJ but they do clear ciggarette smoke so they should the other, too. Maybe they should market that -- every stoner sitting in his mom's basement would be plugging one in. Carry on, Wayne...lol
