My uncle, the trooper, gave me an impromptu lesson in Ninja-road skills one day.

He showed me how to manuever, stop, turn, etc. with precision...in his 1970 Plymouth Fury...the one with the Rocket in it. 140 mph felt like 40 mph, and realizing how fast I was going was as easy as looking at the bug-eyed, white-faced driver in the family sedan as I whizzed by. I never had so much fun/fear going on at the same time before or since.

Nowadays, my old Ponti-Buick is content to cruise the highways at about 80, er....I mean 65 mph, most days. I cannot begin to tell you the number of times the things my uncle taught me has saved my rear. And, I'm simply amazed at the lack of skills most drivers take with them behind the wheel.

Hi Bob...Welcome To The RANT Board. I agree, everybody should attend some kind of racetrack driving ed, the Slow Mo's and the overly careful people are our biggest problem with traffic today.

We Need Rules And Need Them Enforced!!

Three Lanes:

Right lane is for entering & exciting & Slow Mo's.
Center lane is for normal driving at a slightly higher speed.
Left lane is for passing & speed’s. NO BIG TRUCKS IN THE LEFT LANE FOR ANY REASON!!!

If you are the left lane and going to slow you should get a ticket or an azz whooping or just shoved off right off of the highway, you guys really pizzzz me offf!!!

Two Lanes:

Same as above, just eliminate the center lane rules.

One Lane:

Follow the limit, if someone is riding your azz and or is trying to pass, pull over or the results from the left lane in the tree lane scenario apply.

In My World There Is No Traffic Rush Jams!!!

I learned whatever winter driving skills I still have, as a kid in northern Wisconsin. We were taken out to a frozen over farm pond in the family Crosley and required to cross the pond and leave it at a designated spot directly across and then proceed up a snow-covered, crowned gravel road hill. When you could get to the top of the hill without spinning or sliding off the pond or road, you were considered eligible to drive to the nearest store - 4 miles away. I was 9 years old in 1950 when I was authorized to go to the store.

I guess it worked; as an adult in Cincinnati and Wash. DC, I never used snow tires or chains. Eventually my youthful pride subsided and about age 30, I consented to snow tires (and chains when necessary). Having your own kids triggers the growth of your caution gene - I had 3 kids by age 30. :-)
