Thanks for the reply Dig, the reversal of the message is probably a smoke screen by Sinopec:
1. We had been drilling for a long time before the smiling, positive-body-language report by Peter.
2. Then, a relative short time later he does an about face. Surely he thought he was delivering the right message the first time.
3. But it is not good to let competitive bidders have any information that supports their best guess of what value the EEZ maybe worth.
4. It seems that Sinopec may well have taken proactive measures to muddy the JDZ status with Peter's follow-up report. And he probably was asked to use his body language to support the follow-up position offsetting his previous statements.
I may be off-base, but it was very encouraging in my view...considering what little my opinion is worth.
