You're right on that Yak. My cousin, deceased, was a sky marshal and joined the DEA when it was formed. He worked undercover out of Miami and was known as "Nick the Greek". In the 70's,he was the largest off loader of Marijuania in the country. After 10 years of undercover work they finally went to court and he was moved to Austin and given a new identity.
He told me plenty of stories about getting a bunch of agents and 3-4 cigarette boats and meeting the ships offshore. Trucking it to warehouses where someone would "stumble" across it a few weeks later.
He also spent 6 months offshore undercover with the "bad" guys.
In hindsight I wonder how many of the "bad" guys were undercover cia or their French and UK counterparts. Not to mention Columbian undercover agents. Technically, maybe the only "bad" guys were the locals. Everybody else was and is probably working for some government agency, including Escobar.
