NeoMite Lesson 102.

My grandfather told me this story. His friend went to work one day in New York City and heard some cleaning people in his building blathering about something. He tuned his ear into the discussion and started keenly listening. He thought he heard them say something that they heard someone in the head office talking that someone was going to buy an out.

Well my grandfather bought stock in his friend's company. He was sure that he would make a million dollars. Lots of money in those days.

For a month, nothing happened. He was starting to get cold feet. Around November 1919, he was reading the NY Daily News. The headline on the sports page sent disappointment all through his bones. The headline read "Mob Buys Outs During World Series". So the stock was sold for a loss.

The morale of his story was don't believe everything you hear.

The above story could be true. Well, it is such a good story that it should be.
