I lived in Chandler for over 20 years (well, first Chandler then Ahwatukee). Been down here over 10 years. Frankly, I don't give a damn about Mexican economics. They haven't done squat for hundreds of years and I don't expect them to do anything in the future. Besides, our ability to leverage anything in that country is nil.
Shut down the border - HARD! Adequately staff La Migre (INS) so they at least have half a chance to do their jobs properly. I know a lot of INS guys personally, most others by sight and to say "hello". Their's is a thankless and futile job the way it is now. Too much border, too few agents, too lax of enforcement. Heck, get this, they sent a couple of the folks I know to Afghanistan and Iraq. I suppose their borders are more important than our's here at home.
I know all about the lack of coordination between the agencies. The couple I know that woke in the middle of the night with illegals munching down in their kitchen? They called 911. Their home is 8 miles (MAX) from the Border Patrol station in Sonoita. There were Border Patrol agents out on patrol less than 2 miles from their home. You know how long it took law enforcement to get to the scene?
An hour! These folks (who are friends of mine) huddled in their bedroom for an hour with illegals in the kitchen waiting for the Santa Cruz sheriff to get there. They were told "That's not INS's business"!
I'll tell you what i would have done. Me and Mr. 12 Gauge and Mr. .45 ACP would have had 'em all spread eagled on the ground pissing their pants until those slackards showed up.
