Well I can see that some people felt letdown because it wasn't the NFL but I never was in that group because I didn't go into the prediction of what the license was going to be. I just wanted to look at the license itself and see if it was going to be something that would appeal to another segment of society.
I was not let down in the least when I saw that the license was Star Trek because I knew right away that the Trekkies are out there in large numbers and that they purchase a lot of memorabilia. This is a very large fan base and a lot of the people are actually baby boomers that are still fans of the series.
I thought that the countdown clock wasn't the greatest idea but you have to remember that the company at that time was just getting started. When nobody knows your name you need to do something to garner attention. I believe that is all the EI was doing with the big build up was to basically say "Look at us".
Let down is just the way that some chose to view the event, while others like myself saw potential there. Lots of different opinions floating around and this is normal because all of us are different and see things from different perspectives. GLTY! Basser
