My point was what if you owned 50 million shares. Can you short 50 million shares?

I believe you need more margin to cover any increase also. I could be wrong though, it is not really important if the stock is only 1% of the margin you have to put up though. Shorting anything under a buck is not worth it do to the 2.50 per share
