#3937 RE: I4C6S #3931

something isn't adding for me up here,in the post by I4C the article says:
"The program's budget for FY 2004 is expected to be about $10 million, used to support annual competitions among small businesses for Phase I and Phase II awards. "
must not that be incorrect..? THAT amount is way insufficent to cover ANYWHERE near the amount required to fund phase 2 awards to all the companies on the list TR found.....!?!?!?!?!
(I see that is says there "used to support annual competitions " and I thought perhaps that was just the amount required to run the competitions, however, that seems unclear to me.......)

The article aslo states:

"Federal agencies with extramural R&D budgets over $1 billion are required to administer STTR programs using an annual set-aside of 0.15%. The set-aside will increase to 0.3 percent in FY 2004. Currently, five Federal agencies participate in the STTR program: the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the Departments of Defense, Energy, and Health and Human Services."

it would seem to my admittedy clouded and befuddled mind that .3% of the budget of the five agencys listed should be many times a paltry $10 million bucks....I 'm not thinking too clearly this morning ......so if anyone could straighten me out, and show me wher I may have gone wrong, I would really appreciate it.......10-Z PS sorry I4C6S for the un-necessary length of this post....and Ptrey, Tr , Tech thanks for sharing your good thinking......I'm afraid to feel TOO good TOO soon......don't want to get my heart broken
