I have no idea how they are calculated- for got that but I DO know what to look for and do not have any overlays. the histograms are not better- they are faster. they are both "leading" indicators and the MACD is a"lagging" indicator.
the histograms tell u whats coming and the MACD confirms it and lets you know if it will continue. you want to see the MACD cross the "0" line- or in this case , stay above it
