Rick, I do not think I disagree with anything you said.
I think that Iraq is 'ours' until Bush begs the UN to take over (which he could never do) or there is a new administration in Washington.
Our government and Britain decided to do it alone, and have pissed-off the rest of the world over that and many other issues.
If I were a citizen of Germany, France, Russia, New Zealand, China, India etc., I would be upset if my country used our money and young people's lives to help America in Iraq.
My attitude would be, 'let them learn from their hubress, arrogance and lies.'
And no, I don't think we can or will bail out of Iraq now that we are there.
If we get a new administration, we can probably get significant UN support.
And as an aside re: Cambodia, the US caused that slaughter very directly. See "Cambodia" by Henry Kamm, published in 1998 - Pulitzer Prize Winner and Southeast Asia Correspondent for "The New York Times."
