Sounds like you got bad customer service (pretty much par for the course these days at many companies), but to be fair they do clearly state in bold that returns will be assessed a restocking fee on the customer service help page of the website. 10-20% is the norm for these types of fees.

No doubt you weren't treated right Austin but I dont think you should kill the player based on customer service. Fwiw, I've been having a hard time lately with online ordering. Mainly motorcycle parts not ce devices but I've had orders screwed up, defective parts etc. I dont think industry as a whole has a firm handle on the online model yet.

You must not make many online purchases. 15% restock fee is the low end of the norm on returns.

Next time read the return policy before you buy-what is "illegal" about a restocking fee?
IMHO, by the way, it's highly unethical/illegal to "buy" a unit for "review" purposes and then return it. You used it for purposes of promoting your web site (as you did AGAIN in your post). How much to you get for each hit on your site? Did you tell Gateway that you were "buying" only for review purposes or did you simply hide your true intentions? Fraud is "the misrepresentation or concealment with reference to some fact material to a transaction that is made with knowledge of its falsity or in reckless disregard of its truth or falsity." Did you conceal your true purpose when you first "bought" the unit?
