IMO what we need is a strong PR tomorrow morning from ECNC pointing out that Yarter says he was fairly quoted, pointing out that the implied misleading part of the PR (Sun not at Comdex) is false and demanding a retraction of the implication that ECNC lied in the PR.
I'm not sure we will get that. It depends on whether the Sun/ECNC link-up (whatever you want to call it - there is something there, however informal at this point) is as strong as the Sun guy indicated at the meeting. I don't know whether he was authorized to say what he did, but the use of only a minor part of it in the PR was a fair paraphrase. A potentially much more far-reaching relationship was hinted at by Yarter at the meeting. (IMO, it's no wonder Yarter owns some ECNC. He says he believes in the technology!)
If the relationship is only "promising" and still at the flirting stage, Tom might not want to PO Sun management. It would be a high price for all of to pay is ECNC doesn't say anything tomorrow. It might happen though.
IMO, it would be best if Tom's PR is followed up by one from Sun that, in broad terms, admits something of an informal nature is under consideration. If it's true, just stating preliminary discussions have been held with ECNC would suffice. They need not even disclose the subject of the discussions.
Perhaps, Sun even needs to sacrifice Yarter by saying something like he should not have said what he said, but what Yarter will receive is a reprimand and further instruction about Sun procedures. ... eom
