North,

The majority of the Active Boards are Stock Clubs.
Same is true of SI:
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/sub_hot.gsp

I only counted 6 big-cap stock boards out of 25 on SI's hot list. And they exclude anything under $5.

So, in reality, based on a size comparison and non-exlusion of OTC boards, our percentages/numbers aren't much different.

Also proves my concept that most of the action happens in the stock club boards anyways.

Further, as I have explained before, I come from the OTC world. That is the market I understand the best. Only in the last two years did I really start playing with the big caps. It was just my personal preference as I enjoyed the risk and volatility. Thus, that is where I knew most people. So how do I start a discussion site? Talk with my friends. No other way to do it.

We haven't really generated much traffic in the stock-specific big cap sector. But, if you look during the trading day at the Active Boards, I'll bet you see some big cap boards there. Like Jenna's, LG's, and others.

We are slowly breaking into that sector. There is actually a very large SI group, I am currently trying to get to move over here. If they decide to come, you'll see all those boards you speak of light up, and also be chock full of amazing content.

Building a discussion site is no easy feat. You need people to talk, in order for people to talk. But if you don't have anybody talking, how do people talk? <g> That's the hardest part, stirring up discussions. And I'm not really allowed to talk much about stocks, or I'd be stirring it up.

>>Of course, you want as many solid posters as you can get.

You bet. And I actively search the other sites on a daily baisis for excellent contributors.

>>But are you really putting out the product which will be designed to attract them?

Many people only saw this as a tout board a few months ago. I have made some positive changes (at least it seems) regarding the concepts to try and rid of that image. I think even Bob has admitted things have gotten better.

>>But MF seems to have some really good discussions of such stocks. Why not IH?

MF has been around since the early 90's. IH has been around a year and a half. I'm working my mojo as fast as I can, dood!

Interesting tid bit: Did you know SI really got started when the touts were the majority of the posters? THat's right. The premium stock discussion site really got fired by a bunch of stock promoters.

>>Maybe there are other people here like me who are lurking but finding no real place to play.

I *know* there are. I just need one group to break the ice on the big cap boards. That's it. Just like I had a group break the ice on the OTCBB boards. Trust me, I'm working on it.

I haven't had many posters on BIGB since it's inception so I figured I'd just post a daily market wrap until someone else decides to post. I would feel pretty stupid talking to myself. If you are interested in taking a limited role, I will invite you to become a director of BIGB. Then you will be able to moderate, delete posts, etc. That would give you a forum to post your investing strategies without actually having to chair. Something you could do in your spare time. I'll warn you though, it will probably just be you and I. There doesn't seem to be very much interest in long term large cap investing here. I started BIGB thinking it might fill a need but so far, there hasn't been any need! LOL. If at some point in the future, you have enough time to put more into it, I'd be happy to turn it over to you and allow you the freedom to turn it into whatever you like. I have my hands pretty full with OTCDD and don't really have the time to run BIGB like I should. It's totally up to you, but I thought I'd give you the option.
