Thanks. FANG does look a lot better than OXY, both chart-wise and numbers-wise. FANG has much better margins and a lot less debt. The margins are actually phenomenal, as is the rev / earnings growth. I see they had a big merger with Endeavor Energy last year, with FANG shareholders getting ownership of 60% of the combined company.
I never liked OXY, in part because of its past history with Armand Hammer, etc. But Buffett loves the stock, and the price is way down, so I picked up a few shares, but the position is only $711. OXY has the 'carbon capture' aspect (is a leader in that technology), but with Trump in office that no longer seems like much of a plus. I think Buffett got involved with OXY during their big Anadarko acquisition (2019), but that saddled OXY with a ton of debt. Buffett likes the current management a lot, but I never really understood his attraction to the stock. But he's the Oracle, and the stock is cheap, so I recently picked up a token position.
