LOL the first time I walked on to a carpenter job they handed me a blueprint. I was in school for engineering and computer drafting so I could read it like the back of my hand and got hired in an instant. It's been a long journey since then. I had no idea how to swing a hammer or saw a board effectively but I learned through practice..

Even commercial stuff was tricky at first because steel framing is way different than wood. Screwguns were even difficult for me at first but now I can use them in my sleep.

Hats off to your son, not everyone can be an electrician.. Electricity is like Japanese to me. I still have to get my electrician to text me detailed schematics in order for me to make the proper connections and even then I'm worried that I'll burn the place down. He calls me a dummy and asks how I can never learn something so simple but I'm older now and just don't bother.. I just put the bones in, I can't give them the marrow.

Poor sense of direction, eh. Took me ages to find my car in a parking lot once.
