It will be a shame if Volpe doesn't make the opening day lineup. The Martian needs another year at AAA imo. There is no room in the OF right now.

Knowing how Brian Cashman operates he will still send Anthony Volpe to AAA and start IKF if Oswald Peraza is still nursing a lower leg injury when the season starts.

While Anthony Volpe had another special night in pinstripes, the Yankees’ other top shortstop prospect was relegated to the sidelines, nursing an injury that’s held him out of the last few Grapefruit League games.

Oswald Peraza has a lower leg injury, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed after a 9-2 win over the Pirates at Steinbrenner Field on Monday night.

The injury can be traced back to Thursday’s win over Pittsburgh in Bradenton. Peraza tweaked his leg while running through the first-base bag. He played again on Saturday in a loss to the Rays, but has sat out for two games in a row since then.
