Polariton focuses on plasmonics. Plasmonics is completely different from polymers. Polymers are an additive to plasmonics (and silicon photonics generally).

There is no evidence at all that the industry leaders at ECOC and EPIC have any specialty in polymers. You have literally just invented that.

Even if that were true (it isn't, it's a complete lie), it still doesn't explain why leading scientists would be excited about something that could, in the best case, do nothing of note. Could you ever see leading automotive engineers being excited about a device which decreased fuel consumption by 1%? Me neither.
