For all the crap people give FXCM, they worked like a champ during the GBP/USD spike yesterday morning, and according to the Felix guy, Oanda totally shut down.
I've been testing a couple different platforms and have experienced the same things with all of them as I have with FXCM. I'm about to open up an account with ACM to see how it performs, but all things considered, FXCM is still my favorite platform and the others are just as guilty of the games.
