simba,

it's not worth anything unless you have a digital/highdef package...and you need to spend the money to get anything good--sony and sharp(sharp..not what they used to be..and that's good) ...are the best in the lcd category ...and if you would ever condsider anything larger than 37" ..(ie 40/42+) ...go to a plasma(phillips)

i bought a sony bravia last year..paid about $1800.00 for it out the door ..i think you can get them for a few hundred less currently..and i use it as a tv(watch a lot of iptv on it)..and a computer monitor(fun surfing 10' away..lol) ..worth every penny

there are some deals currently..but don't buy it because it is a lcd ..buy it for it's quality ...try this site for reviews :
http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Category.asp?Category=264&name=Plasma-LCD-DLP-TV

.i shop here a lot ..but go and look at the tv's at your local store..to make sure you get the best picture ..and maybe purchase there as well--enjoy..and best of luck with your purchase!

sinc,

bill

simba,

On the Newegg site that william posted,
the 42" Olevia for $949 looks good.
btw...that Visco tv is listed at $799
on the Walmart site.
Also, the bigger DLP rear projection sets
seem to be a great buy, but don't really
know much about them.

Cheers!

(EDIT)simba, good luck. I looked at Sam's Club, Best Buy, Overstock and came up with $1,149-$1,600. BUT, there are a bunch on ebay, new in box, for possibly around $900 buy now price, but club members may frown buying on e-bay. :-)

EDIT: I keep forgetting about froogle.com. Many there, brand name, and see Target has an off brand in the $800s but a little further down some place has same model # in the $700s.
