With your wealth of knowledge, how should they proceed?

I would tell them to cut out the BS and quit with the nonsense (90 year old core "rediscovered").

Do what legit exploration companies do - geophysics, sampling (trenching if necessary), mapping. Then.....drilling, but only if warranted. Most times, it is not.

Posting pictures of three old guys walking through the woods with a GPS, as if that is "exploration geology" is silly stuff.
