fwiw..Eastech started including Dell last year as one of it's customers. The edig PR included the fact that VoiceNav is part of our Odyssey 1000 platform and Acoustic Systems (a subsidiary of Eastech) sponsered Atul's presentation of VoiceNav at the Audio Engineers meeting this last spring. I had asked RP several times if we were still working with Eastech and was assured we were.

Eastech returns to the black as turnover soars 46%
By Rachel Ong , Business Times 16 Aug 2002 EASTERN Asia Technology Limited, a consumer electronics designer and manufacturer of audio, video and Internet appliances, yesterday said its first-half turnover surged 46 per cent to $208.3 million. Net profits were $3.6 million as the mainboard-listed company returned to the black after losing $1.8 million in the first half of last year. Turnover swelled with new orders from new and existing customers, some of which include Dell, Sony, Philips, Kenwood, and Sharp. Eastech's best-selling product was its DVD-Home-Theatre-In-A-Box combo system which contributed 18 per cent to first-half group turnover. Executive chairman Tim Liou said: 'There are two major reasons why we are still growing strongly despite the subdued global economy. The first is our value-added ODM (Own Design Manufacturing) business model, and the second is the digital revolution in the consumer electronics industry.' The digital revolution provides many growth opportunities for the company as digital audio-video products are fast replacing analogue ones. Looking ahead, Mr Liou sees an even stronger second half. Historically, first-half turnover contributes only 30 to 40 per cent of full-year performance, while first half-year net profit is not significant. Eastech is the largest global ODM for DVD-HTiB combo systems, commanding a market share of about 28 per cent. Its Original Equipment Manufactured speakers have a 23 per cent market share.
